Ou Yuan (Couple's garden)

There are two seperate gardens located inside which one couple lived here before.

Ou in Chinese means lotus root and a couple can be also called in this way. Lotus roots is also a plant which can be hardly aparted with its threads connected, representing the love and emotion inseperable between couples.

Historic Panment Gate

One of the oldest tower gate of Suzhou. It is both a land gate and water gate to the ancient city of Suzhou. The Grand Canal is also a stone's throw away.

The garden and buildings inside the Panmen Gate and the wall tower have been rebuilt and looks brand new. a construct to the old remaining part of this tower gate.

Chinese styled roasted chicken served in a sweet sauce that reminds me of toasted rice and chinese wine.

This is a common dish to both Shanghai and Suzhou. You can't get anymore simple or layman with a dish that is made from 2 simple ingredients but is full of freshness and goodness.

The juiciest of pork fillings sealed up in a bun and the pan-fried. Coated with roasted sesame before serving.

CHINESE BRAISED PORK BELLY

The specialty of the region. Fatty pork belly braised till so tender than it melts in your mouth. Served with sickly sweet sauce, the preferred sauce in Suzhou.

Pork hock or leg, tenderly braised in a sweet sauce. The specialty of Suzhou.
