In order of personal preference:
1) Bus: about 2-3 hours depending on traffic conditions.
2) Train: a few D trains are as fast as the bus, but most take a detour through Shanghai so they'll be at least 1 hour slower.
3) Taxi: too expensive for most of us!

For those who find the taxi reasonable, plan on about 100 USD to 150 USD.

I think it might cost quite a bit more than that, especially since the driver will have to drive an empty vehicle back to Suzhou.

Travel Tips for Suzhou

Master of the Nets Garden

by Mez77

One night we had enjoyed an evening cultural show at the Master of the Nets Garden. This was well worth it at ~Y60. Local entertainers put on performances of comedy, opera, and various musical instruments as you are led around this georgeous garden. It is one of the smaller gardens in Suzhoe but touted as the best. I would have liked to see it during the day, but ran out of time.

Wu Men Bridge

by Willettsworld

This bridge is located near the Pan Gate and was first built in 1084. It is the highest single-arch stone bridge in Suzhou running across the ancient canal. The bridge is 11 meters high and 66 meters long. It is said that it was originally made up of three bridges before being rebuilt into a single arched stone bridge.
