Nice Hotel convenient for shopping
It's a nice hotel consistent with Shangri-La standards. The fitness club (pool, dance studio, machines) and the locker area (shower, sauna, jacuzzi) are prime quality standard.
The location is great for shopping. Next door are shops for international top brands (same prices as international standard), a Wanda Shopping Mall and a Wal-Mart's among others. You may find Chinese souveniers at the retail outlets in these shops.
Many businesses have apparently set up offices in the hotel as there is a directory in the lobby.

The Place to Stay(if you have the funds)
I haven't got many complaints about the Shangri La hotel besides feeling silly asking taxi drivers to take me to the "Shan Guh Lee La" when I know for a fact that there should only be 3 syllables in the name. The hotel is well appointed, clean, safe, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. There are several excellent restaraunts including Western food, Japanese, and an upscale Chinese spot on the second floor. One major convenience was the fact that nearly every employee spoke English so I never felt isolated during my stay.
Unique Quality: As an American, I found the proximity to Wal Mart, KFC, Pizza Hut and McD's to be incredibly convenient. Not that I didn't immerse myself in hotpot, FRESH seafood, and street meat, but it was nice to have a familiar-tasting deep dish meat lover's pizza.

Shangri-La Hotel in downtown Changchun
Another comfortable option in the downtown is the Shangri-La Hotel.
