Nightlife in Dalian

At present i am in Zhaoqing, China and thinking of moving to Dalian as a matter of a change. Is there any pure rock bars in Dalian that play live bands, i am not talking about places where they only play commerical stuff like Queen = We will rock you, Bon Jovi = It's my life, stuff. But a place that goes a little bit harder like Metallica's music wise or a jukebox that has got a wide selection.

Would appreciate if anyone can get back to me ^_^

I'm sorry to disappoint you but even a place where soft rock is played is hard to find. I know of a place where local bands play and some of them are heavy metal bands but they sing in Chinese. This city is more into Hip Hop.

Map of Dalian in Chinese is easily available from any stalls selling newspapers and hotels. The transportation routes are detailed on the map. It will be easy to use if you know how to read Chinese (han yu). The timetable for train service out of Dalian is on the map as well, but do double check at the station for any changes.
I bought an outdated map for 2000 from a hotel (Hengyuan Hotel) for 2 bucks, whereas all the stalls along the streets are selling maps for 2003. I thought I can trust people in the hotel more than those on the streets, but I was wrong here. :(

Little Blue Things

In some of the squares there are little 3 wheeled blue things. Similar to a micro-machine British Reliant Robin (1974-89). If you don't care how long it takes to get some where and you are only going about 10 blocks, this is for you. These things only hold two passengers and don't go quite as fast as the Robin... Actually, I have been passed by people on bicycles more than once, especially if you are going up hill. If you don't mind the constant vibrating and road noise, this isn't a bad choice.
