Hello folks.
I will travel to Dalian this year. I am wondering if there will any places where I can learn Mandrin (I do not need a university as I will be working, unless very flexible hours. I have some of the basics but would love to continue in spare time. I would also like to find out if there are any clubs open to europeans of the martial art variety, Surfing or sea sports. If any one has any info I would be grateful.

Hi, I am Chinese living in Dalian,you looking for a language tutor? go to www.dalianxpat.com to have a look, as for the martial art there are many people teach taichi here in dalian, very easy to find one from internet,the surfing sports also popular here, but I am not sure if there are any foreigners do this, you can also check it from dalianxpat, good luck to you.

The Xinghai Square was the first square we visited after we arrived in Dalian. It was in the evening and almost no people. And more surprising, almost no traffic.
At the weekend there is a lot of traffic. At least when we were there. All the time you can see the biggest and most expensive cars with wedding couples inside
In my Nightlife tip you can see a photo of an iron sports sculpture. One of about 30 different.
The Xinghai Square is the biggest square in Dalian.
You will see a nice suspension bridge if you are travelling on the road that is adjacent to the coast (Binhai Road). At the Yanwoling scenic area (near Laohutan), you will find the Beida Bridge. There are some nice photo opportunities here with the surrounding mountains. Worth a quick stop.
People's Square, also called Renmin square in Chinese, was originally known as Stalin Square but the name was changed later for obvious reasons... There are many government administration buildings surrounding it... This square is also well known for the gorgeous Chinese policewomen who can be seen patrolling it...!
