A Cheaper Alternative to the Zhong
Very conveniently located close to extensive shopping areas, including seafood market.
Hotel is a bit past its prime and due for renovation in my opinion, but still thoroughly acceptable and really EXCELLENT value for money. Hotel lobby looks nothing like the bright sunny yellow pictures on Internet. More of a greyish-light green in real life. Rooms are a bit small. 3 star description is accurate.
For excellent views of North Korea, ask for a room on the upper floors, south side.
Unique Quality: Large revolving restaurant on top floor provides great views of surrounding area.
The always fascinating North Korean TV channel is available as a regular channels on the in-room TV. No need to modify TV by pulling out cable and substituting self-created antennas at this hotel! North Korean TV doesn't start broadcasting until around 4 pm on weekdays.

Good location, though possibly illegal
This hotel had a great location, just a short walk to water front and on a main street. The rooms were spartan but clean and very big, with nice wood floors. The bathroom was warn but decently clean. The shower didn't seem to have hot water, but I didn't ask, so it may have hot water at certain times or maybe I just didn't wait long enough for it to warm up. The hotel was Y120 a night (Y60 per person) for a double. We didn't try to bargain here. I suspect the hotel actually may be closed to foreigners though because they never looked at our passports. Because of this we only stayed one night.
