Central and comfortable
This hotel is central to most things that a visitor would want to do. The commercial districts are only a few blocks away. The Imperial Palace is only a few minutes by taxi and the side streets right near the hotel have a few things to keep you entertained, but are a little on the quiet side.
The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. A similar hotel in a major city would be ~3x more expensive. I would definately stay there again.

Lovely Hotel
I joined my husband who was in Shenyang on business. We stayed at the Kempinski for ten days. It was a beautiful, big suite. The service was very good and the location was very convenient. Qingnian Jie is walking distance fromt the big Wu Ai market and directly opposite a lovely park with two lakes. The Carrefour is only about 3 km up the same street too. Unfortunately, the hotel fitness center and pool weren't open yet even though the hotel directory said open Autumn 2004.
Unique Quality: The view was great. The park during the day was fun to watch people play mahjong and at night the tall TV tower sparkled. Again, I spent most every day walking around and exploring the city from this hotel. Great location. There is also a Paulaner Brewhouse German restaurant in the hotel.
