Xi'an, did you like it? Can you answer some Q's please!

by Tim88

I would like to visit Xi'an in late September. I was there 8 years ago, but I know it is not the same. I have some questions if anyone can help...

What is the weather like at that time?
Is it safe for foreign in most places?
What is a mid priced hotel cost?
Other than the Terra Cotta soldiers, what else is there to see, even if you have to travel a bit?
Did you like it there?
Has anyone taught English near there?

1. The weather ranged from 10-20, cold at nights.
2. Of course it's safe there, but mind your wallets. There are pilfers here and there.
3. 100-200RMB.
4. Mt. Hua(Huashan) is a must see. 120km east to Xi'an. Shaanxi History Museum and Forest of Steles Museum are worth visiting.
5. Xi'an is one of my best favorite cities. I traveled there twice, also climbed Mt.Hua twice.

Since you've been there before, you must know lots about the city.

Travel Tips for Xi'an

Market stalls

by Willettsworld about Muslim Quarter Market

The area around the Great Mosque is full of market stalls especially along an alleyway known as Xiyang Shi. Here you can find souvenirs such as terracotta army warriors, paintings, shadow puppets, lanterns, tea ware, so-called antiques, Mao memorabilia, T-shirts etc. Quality really varies as most is fake so check before you buy and haggle hard!

Yang Ruo Pao Mo

by SLSong88 about Tong Sheng Xiang

An unique experience. Each customer will be given two pieces of hard bread and an empty bowl. You tear the bread into small pieces and place them into the bowl. Then you bring the bowl to the kitchen window and they will fill it up with a hot broth.

by sasahead

Over 6000 clay warriors could be assumedly unearthed from the pit if it would be completely excavated. This would be really an artistic reappearance of hundreds of Qin Shi Huang's warriors. With its artistic momentum, it could be acclaimed a piece of great masterwork. The figures, lifelikely shaped and colourefully painted, are of high artistic value.

Termas / Hot Springs

by elpariente

Huaqing Pools is attractive for its exquisite and picturesque view characterized by green willows, beautiful pavilions ,terraces, grand halls, pink peach blossoms, rolling towers, winding corridors and long verandas. Jiulong( Nine Dragons ) Lake is crystal clear and mirrors the pavilions and towers.
In the hillside pavilions Chiang Kai chek it was arrested on 1936 , during the named Xian Incident and he scaped from here forgetting his false teeth , but they met him in a hill cave a few hours latter

Drum Tower

by solopes

In the centre of the old city, and marking the entrance to the Muslim quarter, there is a beautiful tower, very similar to its neighbour – the Bell Tower. The main difference is that instead of bells it has large drums all around it. We had no opportunity to assist a drum performance, but, no doubt, with that size and quantity it shall be a hell of a noise.
