Low price. Good standard.
For the price it's not bad and it's in a central location winthr drum / bell towers within walking distance.
Rooms are clean and tidy and free internet is always a bonus especially with multiple devices in tow (iPhone/iPad/macbookpro) between the two of us. Several western eats around as well as lots of local street food.
We even found a cool little Italian restaruant for lunch (google Colabo Italian Restaraunt).
A welcome respite form roughing it in Gansu province where we'd spent the last week.
Unique Quality: Close to everything. Metro Buses. Taxis. Burger king. Dunkin donuts. Starbucks. McDs. KFC.
Plus a French Restaraunt which is meant to be ok (la seine) which over looks the bell tower.
TIP... If you take the little motorbike taxis agree on a price BEFORE you get in... Just saying.

An "apart-hotel" in a central location
When I went to Japan last year, a hotel room that cost me US$ 120 a night was so small the walls were just inches away from the bed. But for this hotel, US$ 100 gave me a BIG, roomy unit with its own kitchen, tableware, utensils, a sofa bed, a work desk, free internet, and a separate bedroom. Plus, it was located at the building's corner with a terrific view of the street below and the Drum Tower. And I got a discounted rate if I used my Visa credit card to pay. And though the rate did not include breakfast, there were plenty of food stalls nearby.
So what are the low downs? Well, the airconditioning in the bedroom did not work but it was a good thing that the one in the living room did so the cool air reached the bedroom adequate enough for a comfortable sleep. As it was late at night when we noticed it, we did not bother to complain about it as we were dead tired.
Another thing was we earlier requested for an extra towel and bedsheet (for the sofa bed) as there were 3 of us in the room. Even when I told the front desk the Chinese words for "towel" and "bed sheet" and they acknowledged it, nobody came up to provide them.
Despite these drawbacks, I'd still recommend this place but just be sure to check out the airconditioning the moment you get in your room.
Unique Quality: The hotel is just a 5-min. walk away from the Drum Tower (and a McDonald's resto), and is just around the corner from where the Xi'an airport bus parks and waits for passengers every 30 mins. so it's very convenient.

Good choice for tourists-Citadines
Citadines is so nice, convenient. quiet, private. It's a new hotel which was open on 1st, August, 2007. Its location is good, 2 minutes walking to the Bell Tower, facing to the Muslim quarter. And, because it is not located beside the main street, it's quiet also.
In order to find a nice hotel for a group, I searched a lot of hotels around the city center. Then I found Citadines. Even the most critical man of the group was satisfied with the hotel.
The price is only 330 RMB/night in this year. It's not a luxurious hotel, but enough comfortable and nice.
