go to the century-old pow-mo...
by Deathray
go to the century-old pow-mo restuarant in the center of the city. Pow-mo is a noodle dish cooked in broth with either beef or lamb. Don't be fooled by the cheap and unsanitary imitations, go to the really really famous one in the busy commercial district. I don't remember the name, but most everyone in Xi'an knows where it is. Whipping Xi'anese people in basketball :)
Taxi, Please.
by Mairo21
Another easy and always convenient way to get around would be by Taxi. Costs about 10RMB every 3 kilometers. Be sure to have someone write down your hotel name in Chinese, so that your driver will know where to take you when you want to come back. Vice Versa with your destination. Have someone write it down in Chinese. Trust me...It will save you a whole lot of hassles. Oh, and one more thing, before you leave the taxi, ask for a receipt. That way, if you accidentally leave something behind, or if you find they didn't give you back the right amount of change, you can pin your taxi down.
Terra Cotta Warriors - a must see
by greencargirl
Words cannot really describe what you will see here. There's a room with a continuous film show that describes the history and events leading to the burial of these amazing life-sized warriors that's well worth watching.
Why not organise a Seat In Coach Panda CTS Tour ?
by albaaust
Although we did not do this – we had our own private tour this tour could have been Ok. The one day east line tour includes the Terra Cotta Army Museum, Banpo Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda with lunch (probably at same one we went to!) and pick up/drop at own hotel in a mini-bus was quoted as costing 45 Yuan. Bus tours leave from the Melody Hotel.
Tai Chi
by nattybabe
All throughout China you will notice majority of people do early morning exercises including Tai Chi, dancing and badminton all of the city but more likely in a peaceful setting like a garden.
If you go for a walk around the outside of the city wall you will see the community doing all of these things. It's wonderful to see people in a beautiful garden setting looking after themselves in this way.
Have some fun and join them! We got a huge round of applause after our attempt at Tai Chi. They really appreciated it!
