Xi'an Tip
by taoxn
I have been to the Huashan Mountain for three times.
On the first time in May ,1999,i couldn't climbed up it because there were so many tourists on the road. Then in oct,2000, i secceeded at last.
It was so high and steep and the steps were only one metre wide in most places. On the mountaintop, there are many dangerous spots. So if ur are not adventruous
enough ,plece don't go there.
BUS TO TERRACOTA WARRIORS....
by racayadi
If you can pay 200rmb to go from the city to Bing Mayong location... good for you...
if not, go to train station, as you look at the main building, walk to your right about 50 meters and look for bus number 306.... green one...
it costs 7 yuan to get to the parking lot of the Terracota Warriors site, you see a bit of the city and save bundles that you can spend eating some good stuff.....
you go to the same place once you are done to head back to the city, paying only 14rmb in total!!!
it is all about choices!
Terracotta Army
by simcard
This place is real amazing and it is definitely in the must-see list.
I am going to skip the introduction as u can easily google it for professional introduction.. but I would love to share a some little story instead..
On the way to the terracotta army, my driver told me an interesting story. As this place was discovered by a few local farmers who were not even educated to read or write, however, they are the admin officers now for this museum. When Bill Clinton visited here, he was so amazed by the story how this place was discovered, he asked one of the farmers for signature. As this farmer didn't even know how to write his name, he put three circles there. Bill Clinton was confused and not that pleased when he saw that, but his clever interpreter explained to him that that's how the local people show respect by drawing circles. So Bill was finally very pleased looking at the three circles he got.. could this be real?
Banpo Neilithic Village
by Yso
Banpo is included in the East City Tour conducted by CITS along with the Wild Goose Pagoda, the Hot Springs and the Warriors.
Banpo is frankly not worth visiting. It was the oldest on site museum in China (the exhibiyion hall was built over the excavations). Unfortunately it was porrly maintained following its construction in the 50's and so, during heavy rains a couple of years ago, the main buildings flooded and have had to be destroyed. New buildings are being constructed in 2004, but at the moment all you can see is a couple of rrom s containing neolithic pottery - not very thrilling
Muslim Quarter
by darthmilmo
Once you have digested the Great Mosque, why not digest some beer and Muslim food at the Muslim district. The best time to eat in this district is at night when hundreds of hole-in-the-wall restaurants open their doors to its many clients. Just follow the crowd into the most popular places and enjoy a huge feast at inexpensive prices. Of course, there is more to do in the Quarter than eat, there are many shops with interesting bargains :).
Story behind the picture: A friend and former colleage of mine told me how the chinese used bikes to drag all sorts of heavy stuff, including refrigerators. I took it as a joke, but beleive me, it is no joke :). The Chinese use the bicicle to haul all sort of heavy and strange stuff!
