Airfare to Guilin (from Xi’an)?

by snowboarder74

I understand that there are few websites that I can use to book a flight from Xian to Guilin but I have been told that I can find better deals if I book my flights through the local travel agents when in Xian myself. Is that true?

Can people share their experience?
What’s the typical lead time needed to book a flight in early November?

Thanks in advance.

Try John in Xi'an (johnqingg2004@yahoo.com.cn) for quotes. He's a long-time tried-and-tested travel agent of a friend of mine who teaches in Xi'an.

I usually look on the internet web sites from my china travel tip to get the flights times and prices. Then I usually book with a local agent. Sometime there is one at the hotel. They give the same prices I find on the internet but maybe ellyse friend can do better. Also, many time prices are cheaper the closer to the departure date.

HUA QING HOT SPRINGS(2)
The place is very quiet and relaxing, except when you share the visit with a huge group of tourists. It's a nice garden with many ponds and pagodas. As it's sunday, there are many chinese people walking up and down, and souvenir stalls.

Big Green 306 Bus

by walterwu

Going to the Bus Station (next to the Train Station) was a nightmare. Lots of touts who would follow you around and try to persuade you to take their transportation at 10RMB (round trip) which is comparable with the Big Green Bus 306.

Best way to get rid of them is to say that you have had visited those terracotta warriors, etc.

On the way to the Terracotta Warriors, my wife decided to take up their offer and we ended up going from tourist shops to tourist shops. After 2 tourist shops stopover, I told them to take us direct to Terrracotta which they obliged but I paid 10RMB each.

Took a Big Green 306 Bus from the parking lot at the Terracotta Warriors site and the journey was smooth and pleasant.

Remember, avoid any offer and head straight for the Big Green 306 Bus.

The Terracotta Warriors

by xiquinho

This army of life-size warriors has been the silent sentinel guarding the First Emperor's Tomb for over 2,000 years. Of the three vaults so far identified, only one has been excavated. This holds the infantry of the Emperor's army and each face has been individually molded.

Tang Paradise

by jasmine_ding

As the biggest complex of architecture in Tang dynasty style and the cultural theme park, Tang Paradise impresses me with the exquisite views and various shows.

Covering 165 acres, the theme park is located in southeast of Xi’an, near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. There is a lake in the centre of the garden, named Lotus Lake. Purple Cloud Tower and Court Ladies Tower are the outstanding building around it. I have visited Tang Paradise four times. I like not only the night view which is the amazing combination of lights and water, but also various shows: shadow play, puppet show, lion dance, Chinese opera and stilts dance…… Those shows can be enjoyed near Tang market during the day, learning how to make folk sculptures and make fork crafts are available in some of shops. The fork crafts made by yourself, I believe, is best souvenirs. If you get into the park at 1:30 pm, you can enjoy almost all of shows.

A must-see performance is the dance show called ''Dream Back to the Great Tang Dynasty". It is performed twice a day in Phoenix Theater. The last show starts at 5:00pm.

At night, a water film, the biggest one in the world, is shown at the lake, in front of the Purple Cloud Tower.

It was said that you could travel Tang Paradise, enjoying the five senses: vision, hearing, smell, touch and taste. How? You’ll know.

entry fee=68
entry to performance =80

Recommend: start your visit before 4:00pm and leave at 8:45pm. Make sure that you buy your ticket for the "Dream ...." as soon as you arrive at the park otherwise the show may be sold out.
