We only stayed for 2 nights.
Susan hadn't eaten on the plane from Beijing (not an unreasonable decision as the airline food was pretty awful) so ordered a light lunch from room service. It arrived with a flourish!
The room was comfortable and the breakfast buffet good but the hotel was let down by the elevators: only 2 for the whole hotel, and quite inadequate for the demand. Some of us learnt quickly to take an up elevator to go down as the wait for an empty down one was interminable.
The location, just outside the walls was excellent for exploring the walled city and the activities in the surrounding park.
Directions: Just outside the South gate in the walls.
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on hotels in Xi'an. I wanted to choose between Hyatt Regency, Sofitel On Renmin Square, or the Howard Johnson Ginwa Plaza. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank You.
as your budget seems over the top for most simple travlers like me.. I'd suggest the Shangrila (Eastside..10 minutes to downtown, not so scenic.. but, wonderful staff and facilities) or Anna Hotel on South end (3 minutes to downtown--great location to shopping and Ancient stuffs).. for a feel of China..I'd recommend the Dynasty Hotel (westside.. 5 minutes to downtown.. ok location, wonderful feel of China.. medioker staff).. Employees in China are often fake.. meaning.. they show up for work.. showed the station of work for the day.. and they stand there..doing their best.. but, having no clue as how to perform the full duties of the job. This is sadly very very common.. even at the Hyatt.. Yes..I've been around.
I really loved the Bell Tower Hotel. Had a great upper room with two King Size beds and a perfect view of the tower and a big balcony for $600. Great location and service.
