xian to shanghai -- airline ticket

by guo_mei_xin

How much will it costs? Just the cheapest one. My original plan was to take the train but they said it's really hard, so I have no choice but to take the plane. But I want to know first how much it usually costs if I take the plane?

Re: xian to shanghai -- airline ticket

by ellyse

How much it costs depends on how much discount there is available.
If you're really lucky, you could get 70% off which makes it 380 RMB + 130 RMB = 510 RMB which's around the price of a soft sleeper train ride. Quite worthwhile.

Re: xian to shanghai -- airline ticket

I just flew from Xi'an to Shanghai about a week ago. I got 50% discount off the base and had to pay 130 tax and fees. I got the ticket the day before. Only the late flight had 50% discount at that time while most of the others were 20 or 30% discount. I checked the internet the day of the flight and my flight and an additional flight was 60% discount and many of the other flights were 50% on the day of departure. So the longer you wait, the cheaper the price.

You can check www.elong.com for the prices. There are other web site you can also checked. There web address are in a tip on my travel page.

Train from Beijing to Xi'an is...

by omar_samra

Train from Beijing to Xi'an is RMB270 for a hard sleeper and probably half that for a hard seat. It takes 16 hours to get there.
Xi'an is generally quite accessible from other provinces by train or bus.
The plans is an option too but i didn't look into it at the time.
Cabs here different from the 1.20, 1.60 and 2.00 in Beijing are only 1.40 across the board and because distances are generally much less than in Beijing, it is very cheap to get around!

The pottery figures are arranged as if ready for battle , with archers , men in heavy armour and armed chariots. It as if they were just frozen in time 2200 years ago!

Great Mosque

by darthmilmo

The garden inside the compound of the Great Mosque at Xian is unique. The stroll through the several compounds leading to the Great Mosque is worth the time. There is a central building that stands out with its three stories (see travelogue pics). The architecture and design found at Xian's Great Mosque offer a unique chance to see a blend on how the traditional Chinese and Islam culture mixed by the many merchants brought about by the Silk Route.
