A luxury hotel
The 488 room Shangri-La Golden Flower is great and the Horizon Club provides exclusive privileges and an extra level of personalized services. The rooms are huge and excellently appointed. The facilities are excellent and the staff always there and helpful. They even provide umbrellas when it rains!
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
A lot of expats on business secondments use this hotel as their home so you can always meet 'locals' and get info on the real best places to vist, resturants etc.
Unique Quality: xi'an was important historically as the capital of several ruling dynasties and as a market and trade centre. The Shangri-La Golden Flower is located close to the historic city centre of Xi'an. Close however is relative and xi'an covers a large area. You will need taxi's to get anywhere (unless you have lots of time and love walking) but they are very reasonable. The experience of staying in this hotel far outway the downside of the location.
The pool, jacuzzi and gym are very good and perfectly looked after.
