Cocktails
by Museeuw about Habana Club in Sofitel
Nice place to have a drink (with a wide range of cocktails), with nice music. They have a lot of live music also, but when we were there, the band (I think they were Columbian) was awful: two women and two men, and the only one who could sing only sang one song. But it was quite funny to see.
Las dos Torres / Two towers
by elpariente
The Bell Tower, is at the heart of Xian , where criss-cross the streets of the four cardinal points
It is a wooden structure with dark green tiles and inside there was a large bell that marked the hours
Drum Tower is only a few steps away and it is also another traditional Chinese building , that of course it had also a big drum
They are impressive , both in the day and in the night, when light up , for the contrast they have with the modern and noisy city
The Terracotta Warriors - Vault 1.
by K.Knight
The Terracotta Warriors museum is spectacular in both size and architecture.
Divided into 4 “pits,” the forth unfinished, the centre houses thousands of Warriors, horses, Chariots, armor, spears and artifacts.
Vault 1 houses the chariots and infantry in military formation. From the minute Anne and I walked into this impressive building we were captivated by the feeling of seeing everything that we had read about and wanted to see with our own eyes.
The Warriors and horses are splendid in their formation, just as they were 2,000 years ago. Staring into space, each and every one of them would have such a story to tell if they could only speak. Stories of their individual creators, the owner, the first emperor of China, why were they “really” buried, how long did it take to make them and what was their real purpose?
I guess we will never really know the true answer.
The pagoda
by Limclarence
From the Shann Xi History Musuem, you can take a slow walk to the Big Goose Pagoda, about 15-20 minutes. It's a big place for you to slowly explore. You can climb up the pagoda for a fee, which we didn't do.
Visit "Art street."
by K.Knight
Situated between the bell Tower and the Southern Gate of the external wall is the “Art Street” section of the city.
An open air market, set in a quiet and relaxed street, artists pedal their wares from paintings, masks, clothing, pottery and all manner of interesting items. Quite a few of the products seemed to be mass produced “imports” but there were quite a few stalls that offered individual items from local artists.
A few of the stalls also offered artist supplies such as paper, paint brushes, paint, pencils, screens and easels. There are also several bakeries and food stalls offering all kinds of interesting morsels!
