Are you sure you want to visit Huangshan? Huangshan is far away from Xi'an. but Huashan Mountain is very close to Xi'an down town. it's just 120km away from Xi'an. Huangshan is located in Anhui Province. any help?

Please clarify if you're going to Huangshan in Anhui province, or Huashan in Shaanxi province.

Travel Tips for Xi'an

basically, Xian is the said to be the antique storeroom of China where you can easily pick up a priceless antique at the street. It is true some thirty years ago when the city is not so well-known.
Do visit some shopping arcade for the priceless treasure.

Easy train tickets in Xi'an

by chinagazer

There is a China Rail ticket window on the second floor (first floor=ground floor) of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China on the corner right in front of the Hyatt Regency hotel (+/- 1,5 km straight south from the train station and +/- 1,5 km east of the Bell Tower).
Office hours: 09:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00.
Only a couple of people queuing here and the service is very fast.
The staff who served us did not speak one word English (I did not hear/see her utter a single Chinese word to her Chinese customers either), but was extremely efficient in communicating in writing (train number, departure/arrival times, price, etc.). Very easy and fast to buy train tickets here.

Address: on the north/east corner of the intersection of Dongda Jie (east-west) and Jiefang Lu (north-south). The black circle in the right lower quarter of the map indicates the intersection where the office is located.

Aknowledgement: the map is a copy of a free leaflet edited by the Tourism Bureau Of Shaanxi Province and made available at hotel desks. If anybody objects to the use of this map on my tip, please contact me.

Breath-taking Mountain-- Huashan Mountain

by jasmine_ding

Huashan Mountain is 120 kms east of Xi'an. The title of the mountain came from its lotus-shaped five main peaks. It attracts the tourists who are bravery and enjoy natural beauty, with physical strength. Then they'll impressed with everything they'll see.

As one of the "five Sacred Mountains of China", the outstanding feature of Huashan Mountain is precipitous. Some people were scared to cry when they faced to breath-taking crags, steep paths. It is true, not a joke. But the splendid scenery is deserved to run a risk.

There are three ways to get to Huashan Mountain, which I stated in transportation tips “Three ways to Huashan Mountain”. And there are three ways to visit it (The North Peak is the lowest peak of the five peaks; and it is also the junction of the three ways below ):

1.Climb the Huashan Mountain on the old path assisted by the iron chains on foot, through Yuquan Palac (Jade Spring Temple),Huixin Rock, Qianchi Zhuang, Baichi Xia, to the North Peak. Climbing up the mountain and visiting all of five peaks will take tourists about 10 hours, without a rest. It is the exhausted way but the most beautiful way to climb the mountain.

2.Climb the mountain on the new path on foot to the North Peak, then visit other four peaks. It takes about 6.5 hours, the quickest way to climb the mountain on foot.

3.Take a cable car from the bottom to the North Peak; then visit other four peaks on foot. It takes about 4.5 hours for tourists.

Addimission: 100 RMB
Price of cable car: 120 RMB (round way) /70 RMB(one way)
If you take climb the mountain by taking cable car, you have to pay extra 20RMB (round way)/10RMB (one way) for a tour bus.

Bell Tower and Drum Tower

by IreneKhan

The Bell Tower and Drum tower both looks alike, one on your left and the other on your right, only difference is one with Bells and the other with Drums, behing the Drum Tower is the Moslem quarters, and the Great Mosque is inside the Moslem quarters..all are within walking distance.

Shoudn't be ignored-the Small Wild Goose Pagoda

by jasmine_ding

The topless Small Wild Goose Pagoda has a name which is similar to another pagoda, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. People celebrated its 1300th birthday on 2007/1/1. With the surprising rejuvenation after 70 earthquakes in its life, it’s unfair for it to be ignored by visitors.

The topless look was caused by an earthquake. But why did I mention its rejuvenation? An earthquake split its body in 1487, but another earthquake which happened 34 years later made the crack disappear, so the pagoda recovered. The same miracles happened 3 times.

For me, I prefer the atmosphere here, quiet and comfortable even on hot summer days, compared to the crowds of people at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It’s the best place to relax from chaos outside, to imagine the old stories of the pagoda and the city. Not only do the old buildings attract me here, but also the yard for showing the sculptural stone columns which were put in front of the gate in ancient times. Besides, from 8:00 to 11:30, from 13:30 to 17:00, every half an hour there is a Chinese classical musical performance in a room, just several minutes long. If you are tired, why don’t you stop for a while?

Also, you can visit a new museum-Xi'an Museum, the ticket is included. There are many cultural relic exhibitions, including 3 national treasures.

Price:50(including Xi'an museum)
