I just know the location. It's beside the big wild goose pagoda. It's not the centre of the city, but it just takes 15 minutes by taxi to the centre-bell tower. The environment is good. Big wild goose pagoda, history museum and tang dynasty surround it. It's a quiet place after 9:30pm.
Sorry I can't offer other information about it.

Jas,

Is near the train station just outside of the wall a good location to say?

I'm so sorry, please forget the other reply from me. I made a mistake. This one is in the center of Xi'an. 15 minutes walk way to the bell tower, it's convenient. 4 stars.

Travel Tips for Xi'an

Eating Baozi

by socrates_07

If you are in Xi'An you have to eat Baozi. (actualy not only if you are in Xi'An)That´s definitive a cultural tip.
I like those dumplings very much but if you dont know Chinese language it may be a surprise what is inside the dumplings. (especially when you buy it in the street market) It may be pork, beef, seafood, vegetables...

Besides, its also important to order it in the correct way. I mean the correct pronunciation. Once I made a mistake when I ordered it in a restaurant. Fortunately the waitress understood English otherwise they would give me a newspaper.

A not to be missed Hot Pot

by chinagazer

A nice and spacious hot pot restaurant serving delicious food. The menu is in Chinese only but it has pictures. The staff was extremely helpful to compose our menu and show us how to prepare hot pot. Although the staff spoke only a few words of English, communication was very easy and we had some good laughs.

You can choose from standard menus or compose your hot pot to your likes: plain water or different types of broth and your pick of meats, vegetables, bean curd, spices, noodles, rice, side dishes, etc.

We paid a total of 81 yuan for dinner for three, including tea and fruit as dessert.

If we had stayed longer in Xi'an, we certainly would have returned to this restaurant: both for the quality of the food and the service it provides. We composed our menu ourselves based on the half-half hot pot: half of the pot contains a mild broth, the other half is very hot and spicy. We loved both.

Banpo Neolithic Village

by zubric

Over 6,000 years old, it's an archeological site of great significance and interesting to see how the ancient Chinese lived. Despite the crowds that get here, it can be quite serene - until the kids at the college next door start playing soccer, that is. Still, that's what village life is all about, I guess.

Walk the Backstreets

by bsfreeloader

The narrow backstreets to the north and west of the Great Mosque comprise Xi’an’s Muslim Quarter. These streets harbor a never-ending array of stores and stalls selling all manner of trinkets and souvenirs. This also is a good place to sample street food ranging from hot pots to kebabs.

Views from the Bell Tower

by Willettsworld

You get some good views of the city centre from the bell tower. You can see the work being carried out on the new metro system to the north, which was being undertaken when I visited in July 2008. You can also see the South Gate from here.
