Burial Mounds and Pyramids
by mikelisaanna
Because Xi'an was the capitol of China for over 1000 years, the countryside around the city contains dozens of tomb sites of emperors and other nobles. Many of them are earthen mounds, often in the shape of a pyramid. Almost none have been excavated to date. On the drive in from the airport to Xi'an, you can see a couple of them off in the distance amidst the fields. The largest pyramid is the tomb of emperor Qin Shi Huangdi of the Qin dynasty, which is guarded by the famous terra cotta army.
Huge Buffet
by nattybabe about Bamboo Buffet
The Bamboo Buffet is a huge bustling restaurant with every type of Chinese cuisine imaginable. For Y30 it's all you can eat as well as one beer and all you can drink soft drink.
There is ready made salads, stir frys, veggies, soups and meats but there are also chefs waiting to make meals to order once you give them the fresh (and I mean live fish!) ingredients.
It's a loud, smokey atmosphere that could be just the thing for a fun night out.
Terra Cotta Warriers - Pit 1
by easterntrekker
If you can imagine 6000 warriers , life sized , no two alike stretching back 600 feet , this is Pit 1. We wondered how they could do it and how long did it take . Were there really that many people who had the skill and talent to create these lifelike statues? It is hard to imagine.!
There are 4 columns of warriers in each of the 11 passageways. We are told that when they were first uncovered they were brightly colored just as they had been when constructed . Unfortuneately they colour disappeared quickly when they were exposed.
The Terracotta Army
by Luchonda
Warriors all ligned up and only discovered a view decades ago ! Explorers think to find about 7000 statues of warriors - horses and all material to defend the emperors imperium 2000 years ago.
It is forbidden to take photo's in the halls - but i did it my way - leaning at the border of being catched - but the hall itself is reflected by the lights of camera's !!

by jasmine_ding
As the symbol of Xi'an, the Bell Tower stands at the real centre of the city. It was built in 1384.
The view of the city can be seen on the second floor.
On the Bell Tower, tourists can enjoy the performance of playing bells. The timetable is: 9:00, 10:30, 11:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00. Besides, there are exhibits of traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, porcelain and folk arts.
In the past, the bell was sounded during the daytime to announce the time and the dark drum was struck to announce the time at night. Now the custom has made a return so the bell and the drums are sounded four times per day at 9:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00.
