Tsintao Beer is the best-known Chinese Beer in the world and at home. It has become one of the major exports of Qingdao internationally. The local residents are proud of their brewery, and have constructed a museum that offers samples of their beer. The museum chronicles the brewery's century-old history through interactive and entertaining displays.
The unique combination of German and Chinese architecture in the city centre, combined with German demographic roots and a large Korean expat population, gives Qingdao a distinct atmosphere. You almost feel like you're walking around Bavaria-on-Sea rather than an eastern Chinese seaside city. The main areas to find some of the finest German architecture are around Guanhaishan Park between St Michael's Church and the Protestant Church. Another area of colonial architecture can be found in an area known as Badaguan (Eight Passes Area) north of No.1 Beach and south of Zhongshan Park in the east of the city.
