Maybe my standards are too high. This is my first time to mainland China, but I found the InterCon Delux room to be a bit run down and dirty. I have stayed at the InterCon in Sigapore and found that to be a first class place. Something about coming into your room for the first time and seeing dust on the desk, stains on the bathroom floor and hair in the tub does not scream high class to me. Again, maybe I have set the bar too high for China.
Unique Quality: Car horns can be heard clearly and quite loud from my 14th floor room.

Unique Quality: The bar on the first floor is nice and quiet if you just want to have a drink, listen to the band, or shoot some pool.
(However) there are many working girls here, who typically sit alone at a table and eye the men all evening. There are also many working girls on the street outside this hotel; somehow this part of the city currently flies under the radar of the police in this respect.
Also, this hotel is not in an especially great area for tourists, but there are plenty of good restaurants around.
We got an excellent deal from Intercontinental Pudong Shanghai. Room for two less than 70e for a night. The breakfast was not included, but this wasn't a big deal as the city is full of inexpensive and good restaurants.
The hotel is located in the new development area Pudong, east of the city centre. There is a metro station just next to the hotel and taxis are cheap, so the location is not a problem.
The staff is extremely attentive and show how affectionally they care about the wellbeing of the guests -- as usual in better hotels in Asia. The room is roomy, but a little bit rundown. Bed is excellent, and there is a selection of different pillows available for the room service. All basic amenities, and some extra -- such as toothbrushes -- are available.
Looking for information on the soon to be opened Hotel Intercontinental Shanghai Expo. Can anyone tell be where exactly this property is located? Thank you.
