Budget hotels not as easy to book.
Some Expo pavilions very crowded.
Metro line 8 extremely crowded during morning rush hour.
Other than these 3, I don't think Shanghai has gotten dramatically more crowded.

Just went there for the 4th time yesterday. Be warned that a lot of pavilions close early. The city pavilions in Puxi tend to close at around 9+ pm. The Asian ones tend to close at 9 pm or even before -- the ones around North Korea closed at like 8.30 pm. The ones that close latest are the European ones, especially Poland which I think generally has the latest entrance time.

Travel Tips for Shanghai

Xujiahui Park

by cheezecake_deli

Shanghai has traditionally lacked parks, though the local government appears to be trying to correct this. Xujiahui Park is one of Shanghai's newer parks, located along Hengshan Road between Xujiahui and Hengshan Road metro stations. It appears very popular with locals.

Good food and a great view

by mikelisaanna about New Heights

New Heights is an upscale Western restaurant on the 7th floor of Number 3 building on the Bund. The restaurant's best feature is its outdoor terrace, which gives you a great view of the Bund and the Pudong district across the river. The menu features a variety of cuisines, with a good choice of Western dishes, ranging from sandwiches through fancier entrees. We went for lunch, and had some very good burgers. They also have a good kids menu and were very nice to our 7-year old daughter. The food is on the expensive side, but you're basically paying for a great view.

Yu Yuan Garden

by Sharrie

YU YUAN GARDEN:

It is common knowledge among the Chinese that to know & learn about China's history, one should venture to Beijing. This can be observed in the layout of the cities. Shanghai being a relatively 'new' city (Shanghai had a population of only 50,000 in mid-18th century), it is difficult to find many places of historical significance.

Yu Yuan Garden was basically founded by the Pan family who were rich Ming Dynasty officials. The Garden was built around 1559 by a Ming official in honor of his father Pan En.
