The ochre brick tower has good views over Suzhou Creek at the front and the Bund beyond.
Rooms are on the small side, but the hotel is quite cheap. (I think it is 4 star).
It is feling the years a bit, despite refurbishments, but the staff are unusually friendly and it is better located than it might apear from the map: it is easier and quicker to get to Hongqiao airport, for example, than hotels in the Bund/Renmin Square area, and the station is also not far. The streets either side of Suzhou Creek give a good feel for what old Shanghai must have felt like.
Nothing special in any area, but a decent hotel at a fair price.
