Shanghai Cuisine in Downtown
by machomikemd about Barrels Restaurant
authenthic Shanghai Cuisine in the downtown area of Shanghai. Our private tour of Shanghai included set lunch and dinners and on our first day of set dinner, we ate here at Barrels restaurant, located in the middle of Shanghai, the place is a popular stop for dinner of private group tours and mass tour groups and there are lots of tables and chairs in the place. The ambiance is simple but elegant and the food is Shanghai Cuisine, we has some shanghai style clear soup, some friend chicken fingers, an authentic Shanghai Spring Rolls (way different from Philippine Style Lumpiang Shanghai Spring Rolls) and some shanghai style stewed pork. shanghai spring rolls, way different from the philippine lumpiang shanghai since the filling is just some veggies and some shrimp. Barrels is also a multifunctional place, catering for formal sit-down dinners to cocktail mixers, corporate meetings to private parties. a combination of restaurant and bar that 's why it's so many people here.
Pudong New Area
by limledi
The Pudong New Area is a nice place to walk around. This has become a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). As a young area, it symbolizes everything that is new and exciting in Shanghai. Oriental Pearl TV Tower & Jinmao Tower, two of Shanghai's famous landmarks can be found here. Plenty of people, locals and tourists alike frequented this place. There is a huge park where children can run and play. There are also food stalls around. Tall beautiful buildings surrounds the area.
SHANGHAI - A FINE CITY
by kathynchuck20
"SHANGHAI CITY LIGHTS"
Shanghai was a wonderful experience. It was beautiful, modern and ultra-clean. Crime and poverty were almost non-existent. As out guide told us...Shanghai is a fine city...a fine for spitting, a fine for littering, a fine for jaywalking. But it certainly lists among the places I would love to go back for a long visit.
The city architecture was eye-popping and modern with new construction everywhere. There were parks and gardens everywhere.
"Clarke Quay"
Clarke Quay (pronounced 'key') was a very fascinating hang out at night. It was wall to wall restaurants, bars and clubs that went all night long. The place was crowed with sightseers but most of all, it was packed with young, well dressed local there to see and be seen, socialize, dance and have fun. A place not to be missed.
"Ginger Gardens"
One of the main sights, especially if you like orchids, is the Ginger Gardens. It is is a massive garden with an orchid garden as the centerpiece. There are literally hundreds of varieties, colors, shapes and sizes from thumbnail to baseball sized flowers.
