Cypress Hotel

Excellent hotel. Stayed in a Tower 2 room. Great size with lovely furnishings/fitout. Especially liked the little extra's for business travel like fully stoked stationery including scissors, paper clips etc, In-room fax machine and big working desk.

Plasma TV and DVD also a standout.

Unique Quality: The main thing I noticed at the Shang was the amazing service. All staff happily greeted you, would offer to carry your bags (even if they weren't front office staff) and always got involved. A great example of this was the Maitre-de in Cafe Li quite happily clearing tables and coaching his team rather than a command and control type attitude.

Cafe Li would have to be one of the best brasserie style restaurants I've ever seen with a overwhelmingly large choice of different cuisines.

The F&B outlets on level 36 were also fantastic. The bar is beautiful with fantastic views of the Bund and a fantastic selection of cocktails and the restaurant Jade on 36 has an interesting menu concept with different set menu's available varying in size. Food there was superb.

Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Stayed there for 14 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Directions: Close to everything on the Pudong side. Superbrand mall just next door.

enjoys easy access to both Hongqiao and Pudong international airports and is also close to the subway connecting Pudong to Puxi (West Shanghai).

I have stayed at the Cypress twice. It is within 5 minutes drive of Hongqiao, but a long way from the city centre. It is close to the zoo though!

Spacious gardens, with beautiful cypress and cedar trees. Lovely environment.

Good coffeeshop and restaurant.

Rooms fine: usual 4-star amenities - TV, minibar, good shower.

Unique Quality: Big fitness centre, but pool is currently closed for refurbishment.
