Tailor made clothing
by simcard about Nanpu Fabric Market
This is something I strongly recommend doing while you are in Shanghai. During my years living in Shanghai I'd made way many clothing from there and I know I will definitely go there every time I go visit Shanghai.
This fabric market has 3 stories and hundreds of vendors. They can make all kinds of clothing (dresses, men's suits, winter coats, jackets, pants, skirts, shirts, etc), either they go by their designs, or you can bring your own designs that u cut out from magazine or print from internet.. different kinds of fabric are available right there for u to choose from.
I think the best deal there is cashmere winter coat. I ordered one for my father-in-law and it is a long coat. Very impressive quality I must admit and it only cost 100USD totally.

Nan Xiang Man Tou Dian (inside YuYuan). Best place for Xialongbao.
The girls are carefully taking the meat out from crabs. A team from Japanese TV filming a travel program were sitting next to our table inside the resturant. Crab Meat Xialongbao. Yummy........
Excellent collection of Chinese Arts
by SPW
The Shanghai Museum, in the southern section of the People's Park (Renmin Gong Yuan), is a modern building designed in the shape of a traditional cooking pot. Light and airy inside, thanks to a central atrium, the display galleries lead off the central balconies, and are dedicated to different aspects of Chinese art. There are galleries devoted to ethnic minorities, including a colourful display of costumes, jade and bronze from different periods, ceramics, calligraphy, painting and more. There are also galleries for travelling exhibitions from around the world.
The displays are well designed, carefully lit and have interpretive signs in English as well as Mandarin.
One trip is not sufficient to do justice to the exhibits, probably 2 shorter visits would be better, and gaining some familiarity with the museum via its website is also useful.
There are many stalls within the museum selling replicas as well as an extensive museum shop, and there is also a cafe where lunch can be bought at a reasonable price.
Shanghai - Home away from home

"Pudong, May 2002"
This was such a beautiful morning! After partying the whole night we got lucky and saw this stunning sunrise on our way home. Too bad that we were in a taxi and I wasn't able to take more pictures, maybe from different angles...
BTW: this picture was taken in 2002, Pudong looks a whole lot different now - sooo many new buildings shot up there!

One of the rare days when there's a clear blue sky over the city.
