The Bund
by extrajoce
This famous strip along the river is the bustling center of Shanghai, a place to witness the amazing pace at which the country is growing. The Pearl Tower seen here was once a tall landmark but is now surely drowned amongst dozens of other buildings that sprang up throughout the city, and especially in the new business district seen here on the opposite river bank.

Lynn - Shanghainese Restaurant Opened in 2007
by crewrower about Lynn - Modern Shanghai Cuisine
This is not a bad option if you're looking to try Shanghainese food. Lynn opened in early 2007 and is outfitted in a comfortable and contemporary style. It's a large place and, since it just opened, it is not so hard to get a seat. The food is tasty and the service is well above the Shanghai standard.
They have set lunches (requires 2 or more people) for either RMB 50 (US$6.5) or RMB 70. I tried one of the RMB options today. All of the items served were quite good (vegetable dumplings, sauted beef and peas in an excellent crust (looked like mini samosas but not heavy), soup, and bowl of Shanghainese noodles). Also included choice of tea which they were sure to refill very often. However, the portion size is really not much more than a snack, and we ended up ordering some additional vegetables and a pork dish.

Jing'an Temple Park!

Thought i was lucky finding this free park, as i was waiting for Shirley, who was getting her finger nails done at the mall. Some of the locals in groups playing marjong, or getting some air on a nice day.
Shanghizzy, dropping Trannies
by chodearm
"I heard you dropped your tranny"
We started our day flying to Ningbo, doing our work there as the rains overflwed from the gray above. We were suppossed to have tickets for a flight to Shanghai after the work was done but planning didn't mesh up and we were now hunting for a alternative to get to a city where the party goes through the night. The factory provided a driver, only the mobile he was cruising in was a 80's model Lincon Town Car. Now remeber this is mainland China, American cars are nowhere to be found. As we funneled down the highway for the 6 hour land cruise every passerby or passee turned their head to see what kind of gargantuan metal pile we were in. About an hour into the 6 the car started its bucking, the beginning to a sure death. The driver wasn't used to a slipping tranny and pushed the gas petal further rather than easing into....will continue, have to make a doody.
