Golf Clubs in Shanghai
by hirdy
Can anyone assist me with a location on where I can buy golf clubs in Shanghai, I understand they may be copies however I was after a good quality set. Thanks

The copy market, Xinyang market, is always a good place to start looking. There are golf stores there with nice copies at great prices. See my Shanghai pages for information on the copy markets, how to get there and how to get a good price.
The bargaining aspect always works for me when I use my method. Go early so you are the first customer, ask for a price than ignore their antics to show you better prices, until they drop to the level you want. You can give them a little encouragement during the process to make sure they don't give up. If you pretend to not care, they know you do care and will drop the price to get their first big sale of the day. I found many of their prices are a factor of 3 high. If you can knock it down more than 2, you did ok.

You can get a complete set of clubs including bag, woods, irons and putter in brand name copies for not more than $200 usd. Available at any of the markets which sell copies. My friend purchased a set at the market at 580 Nanjing Rd. I imagine a "real" set will be not be cheaper in China. If you're an avid golfer, I can't vouch that this is the way to go, but I haven't tried hitting any of the copies.

Alternatively you might want to try Decathlon (http://www.decathlon.com.cn).
Travel Tips for Shanghai
When in Shanghai
by Mathman about New Yang Market
This is a collection of discount shops that sell mainly clothes, bags, watches, and sporting goods. Most of the market shops sell fake goods but some appear to be factory outlets for good quality mechandise. With appropriate bargaining you can get items at a very reasonable cost. Watches, bags (luggage), clothing, sporting goods (especially golf clubs and tennis rackets), pens. That depends on the product. If they tell you it is "original quality" this should mean that the item is the real deal. An "A-grade fake" is made of the same materials as the original but not to the same production standards (e.g. seconds). A "fake" can be anything. As with anything verify their story by looking closely at the item. Bargain to pay 30-40% of the asking price.
Famous Tim Sum
by traveller0070 about Lu Bo Lang
I personally did not try the food there as there is a long long queue.. instead went to the next few door away restaurant.. taste as good and i guess its cheaper than Lu Po Lang. Go try the Dang bao(soup bun), its shown in one of my pic.
oriental pearl tower

i stayed 5 days in shanghai but difficult to choose on a clear day to go to the top of the tower . most of the time the sky was misty probably due to polution! guess what the last day of my stay was a gorgeous day , but i'd already been to the tower! i paid 100 RMB which gets you to the 350m observatory! hope you don't have vertigo! i went during the week but lots of school kids and quite busy, i heard week ends are packed so try and go during the week! also you are not too far from the tall HYATT hotel! Oriental pearl tower is amazing ! it looks like a rocket from faraway but, i love this awsome architecture! if you go all that way to Shanghai , you are not allowed to miss this!
