I just came back to US from Shanghai.
Xujiahui is a shopping place for digital things.
You can also try http://www.jibuy.cn.
It's cheaper. I bought some digital camera accessories in that shop.

Buying electronic stuff in China isn't recommended. Genuine foreign brands are going to be very expensive due to high import taxes. Chinese brands might not work well, won't come with English-language manual (perhaps even no English for operation either) nor international warranty. Fake goods abound.
If you're still undeterred, try the malls around Xujiahui (metro line 1, Xujiahui metro stop, exit no.10) or Cybermart on Huaihai Zhonglu (metro line 1, Huangpi Nanlu metro stop, diagonally opposite exit no.2).

Ellyse is right. Digital things are very expensive in China bcoz of the higher tax. The reason why I recommand such website (http://www.jibuy.cn) is that the owner of this shop is Japanese. The guy is kind. They imported all products from Japan or HongKong without tax. So price is cheap. And also you can bargin.

If a shop gets goods imported without tax, it must be coming in the trunk of a car hidden in the spare tire well because all electronic imports to China have several forms of tax. Digital cameras are in one of the lowest tax categories, however. Even so, you should try to buy electronic goods of any type outside of China as others suggest.
Travel Tips for Shanghai
Nanjing Road Pedestrian Zone
by goglobe
Nanjing Lu is now a pedestrian walk zone with shops of all kinds, from traditional local food stores to fashion houses, just look at the colourful ads and signs all over the buildings. It is easily accessible by the metro too. There are frequent shuttle vehicles provided for those who don't wish to walk.
Hengshan Road
by stmlnyc about Hengshan Road
Hengshan Road is classically styled with quaint sidewalk restaurants and large disco complexes, although it was a bit of a letdown to find a TGIFs at the corner.
Other nightlife areas that may be of interest are:
Lan Kwai Fong at Park 97 in Fuxing Park is very pretty and upscale. Nearby Party World KTV has some of the best karaoke facilities I've seen and for a very reasonable price.
The French concession along Huaihai Zhonglu is classically designed catering to
the city s well to do. Check out the upscale McCafe and the pricey movie theater.
The bars along Maoming Road seem more for the younger crowd...a place to let one's hair down, some bars have a college feel to it. Dress code would be correspond to the price of the establishment. Although, I would think scandals, tank tops, and other beachwear would be inappropriate.
A Good Hamburger in Shanghai
by gaolei about Malones American Cafe
Malones is a small piece of America in Shanghai. They have real American beef hamburgers, ribs and steak along with beer and pool. Tired of chopsticks? Go to Malones Pub for real meat, forks and things you can eat with your hands!
A good burger with fries will cost 8 to 10 USD, though. They also have Pizza with your beer if you wish. Hamburgers in a dozen varieties!

Shanghai, the whore of the east

"ShangHigh"
Shanghai is the best place where I've been so far. It made me fall in love with China, Chinese people and everything else that is Chinese. I was stayed in the Pujiang hostel, which was not cheap for Chinese standards (100 RMB per night for a 5 bed dorm), but the stay was priceless !
