I flew China Eastern several times on domestic flights within China without problems.
However, take a look at the below link.
http://www.airlinecrew.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=179333
I think I have a more official link at home, I will check later.
The scary thing is not that the flight has a tail strike during takeoff. It happens more then we would like to know. But the scary thing is that the pilot was told several times to return to the airport to inspect for damage. But he refused to land and went on to China.
A small crack could have exploded the aircraft when it went to altitude as the plane was pressurized.
I may have read else ware the pilot was in lots of travel when he arrived in China. I hope the airline took action to insure pilots return for inspection when this happens again.

Travel Tips for Shanghai
...and what's ahead
by Amareyui
Everything seems extremly logical when the money has poured into Pudong, and buildings inexcessingly spourts out from the dirt. All seems good, but in reality does these investments pay off? Does the optimistic claims of Shanghai being the next Tokyo/ Hong Kong, or the "Century Avenue" becomes the next Champ Elisse have any truth to them besides hype? Sure, the buildings won't stop showing up, but the more telling sight is the condition of the street and infrastures between the big name buildings. It is not so promising. Dirty, incomplete, temperory.
Total Packed Discotheque
by Azri_Azmi about Babyface
After my VT meet up at Park 97, at 2330 we went straight to Babyface Discotheque.
It is a big disco setup alrite but its totally packed and crowded. So many guests making it impossible to dance. All guests were dancing only limited space, just by moving their bodies.
Anyhow, lots of beautiful faces can be seen inside this disco. Most are young Chinese girls and boys. But I do see also few westerner around that nite.
As it was getting too crowded, we decided to heads back to the hotel at 0030.
But if you really enjoy socializing, this is a perfect spot to go. Tunes played by DJ that nite were very good indeed.
Its packed but worth the experience.
Beer, Art and Jazz in an Historic Building
by gaolei about Shanghai Memory
The restaurant is easy to spot as you drive down kongjiang road, there is an old railroad steam engine and a statue of Jazz musicians in front of it. You will know immediately that this is a very unusual restaurant. You will find that it is a beer mini-brewery, it has live Jazz in the evening, it serves Chinese food, it serves Brazillian style in another room, it has a cigar room and interesting original artwork painted on the walls.
The beer is great and so is the Chinese food. It is a little off the tourist path, but the lovers of old Shanghai style western architecture will want to see it. Enjoy! I only sampled the Chinese food, but the jellyfish was quite good and the shrimp cooked in breakfast cerial.
Visit Old Town Shanghai
by bsfreeloader
Northwest of the Bund lies Old Town Shanghai, an area full of old-fashioned tea houses, antique stores, and similar shops. At the heart of it all is Old Shanghai Street, which features nearly a kilometer of shops recreated in Ming and Qing dynasty-style architecture. Also in the area is the Yu Yuan Garden, which is a favorite haunt of locals and tourists alike on weekends.

When I stand in front of the biggest
river side and biggest ocean . Seen
many different people, such as 'la-ma' and chinese people.look at those european trees. I felt crying !!
I dont know why . :)) Yes,I am a person who very easily feel melocoly. For Sure, Shanghai is
a good exodic place to visit.
Good Food and kind ladies.[ except the lady in Hotel and in the official custom, they are awful ].
And I like most of trees there.
very different than tropical plants.
You can consider to buy some fine quality scarf in the shop of airport. Really Good and not too expensive.
