Take a look at http://www.wunderground.com for a better idea of what weather has been like in the past for Shanghai at that time of year.

Hi, Ragedy--oops, make that randyandy.
March should be just peachy. Expect to have a sweater in tow but your best friend in Shanghai will always be your umbrella. Do you mean clothing seasonal change sales? I think you will hit it spot on. Look for signs, often an 8 inch yellow circle with a large, red, single digit, such as "6" which means the sale price is 60 percent of (not off) the regular price. In other words, if the tag attached to the garment is marked 100 Y, you pay 60 Y. Unless you have some very specific designer name needs, you will find bargains in every neighborhood. I like to shop in the upscale area about 3 blocks north of Chang Feng Park on the west end of the city not far from East China Normal University. But most tourists prefer to pay too much around Nanjing Road.

Travel Tips for Shanghai

Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration

by marsistanbul

The Chinese Lunar New Year is also called Spring Festival or Guo Nian Legend goes that "Nilan" is a sea monster going ashore to prey on Lunar New Year's Eve.If was not until the time An Old Man drove it away with firecrackers that people were safe at home.
Since then Chinese people have being celebrating this occasion with firecrackers, red antithetical couplets, and candles for the New Year to come

Taking the Maglev

by shanghai-schwoab

The best way reaching Shanghai from Pudong airport is taking the Maglev. Have you ever driven with over 400km/h in a train, here you have the chance ! the single trip is 50 RMB, 40RMB if you show a valid plane ticket. Follow the signs at the airport, buy a ticket, enter the station and get a window seat. The train ride takes you 8 minutes and brings you to Longyang Road subway station, from here you can take a cab into downtown, but be careful, may cab drivers there try to trick you. a ride to downtown should never be more then 100RMB, to the Bund maybe around 40RMB. Better to take the subway, its cheap and its fast, no traffic jams and the line 2 goes into the heart of the city

Local tasty food!

by rabbit06 about China Flower Restaurant and Bar

Would have to say typically Shanghai in presentation and ambience. Our waitress was very polite and helful ( enough for a tip ) Shirley's brother and cousin are freinds with the owner and come here at least once a week, think that's their " drinking night " .....very nice!!! The river crab ( see Susan's pic ), but the whole crab's are tasty and of cource the beef was just so delicious!
Just have to keep on eating!!

Peace Hotel Old Jazz Bar

by jono84

You hear so much about it from other travellers and from locals, but it really does live up to expectations...... well worth atleast afew hours on a night out.

This ancient Jazz Band have been playing here for donkey's years, and the music is still just as calming and classy. Its just a shame the entry fee is so high, making this a must-see but only if you have the cash to splash (Y50 admission).

The drinks are also expensive, but if you're game for this choice of night out, you will not be disappointed. The Bar is open from 8pm until 2am daily.

Shanghai is rising in the world!

by Shanghai_fabulous

"Shanghai is where you must visit."

Being a local resident of Shanghai, I've never thought this city falls behind any other city in the world. As you probably heard of some speakings between whils in praise of her, especially in terms of city planning & landscaping, well, this is all ture.

On top of that, we've got an incredible government who has been doing very practical and fdevelopable things for its citizens and the environment which they live in. Our leaders have been given the title of ' friendly govmt' by the civilians.

Another message I'm keen to deliver is that the city is in its best state of all aspects in the resent years. So whatever you plan to do down in that city, you'd better not hesitate to go and have a look first. I'm currently studying overseas, usually I return home 3 times a year. No matter how long I've been away or how curious I'm getting on London, Paris whatever, Shanghai is the only place I finally decide to go.
