Expo which side?
by rabbit06
What ever you do have a great time! Pudong is very bubbly side of Shanghai, although you will find Puxi has a lot to offer and if anyone is there for Expo stay close to your work and or hotel as Shanghai will double or Shirley say's even triple in population??...OMG!
As the best advice for anyone is to avoid downtown traffic and especially the #1 metro line at peak times!!!!!!...Enjoy....!!
Fresh stroll

It's a show no one can miss, the reflection of Pudong's lights in the river, while enjoying the cool of the night in the Bund's walkways.
Night and day are, really, different programs in the Bund.
Arabian feast
by lindyz about Barbarosa Lounge and Restaurant
This was yet another place that Chris took us to, that we would have never even known it existed. In the middle of the Peoples Park you will find this Restaurant, the Barbarosa. The setting is beautiful, gardens, water features and in the middle of Shanghai, you could be absolutely anywhere in the world. You are a world away from the traffic and chaos that is "Shanghai".
Any meal you order here comes complete with a light salad, bread and soup, so you realy are getting a 3 course meal for the price of one. And the prices were extremely reasonable, so I would urge you to seek out the Barbarosa - although I cannot exactly give you directions to find it, apart from to say that it is in the middle of Peoples Park and next to the Art Museum.
I ordered a very yummy chicken salad, Tracy had smoked turkey foccacia and Chris had grilled eggplant foccacia. The bill came to a total of 347rmb including 2 Tsingtaos and 1 Evian water, and Tracy and I split the bill between us. So, for around 100rmb you can have yourself a healthy and delicious Arabic style meal in perfect surroundings in the heart of Shanghai. Chris also took me upstairs, there are 3 levels to this place. A separate function area on the 1st floor and a roof-top area up the top. Chris said he has been to a few parties here and had a ball!
Barbarosa is VERY HIGHLY recommended.
HUANG PU RIVER CRUISE
by ancient_traveler
Winding through the heart of Shanghai, the Huangpu River is the city's primary artery, a freshwater tributary that leads to the Yangtze River and beyond to the East China Sea. The Huangpu River Cruise Company offers leisurely boat tours with tickets ranging from $6.25 to $13 (pricier seats come with better views and snacks).
A spectacular sight is that the two suspension bridges, Nanpu Bridge and Yangpu Bridge, appear to arch over the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, resembling 'Two dragons playing with a ball'. In addition, many historical buildings left over from Shanghai's colonial days have been preserved. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jin Mao Tower, skyscraper hotels, offices and malls of the Lujiazui Financial Zone are located on this side of the river. Ships depart from the Bund (Zhongshan Road), sail to Huangpu Bridge in the south, turn and head north towards Wusongkou, and return to the Bund.
Shanghai in winter

"Site seeing on 2 wheels"
Cycling around Shanghai especially around the old town is an amazing treat for the senses. The sites, sounds and smell...Just have your wits about you. After this experience you'll feel part of this vibrant city.
"Different cultures within the city hub"
Outside a Muslim restaurant serving xinjiang cuisine, located in the French concession area. The highlight being freshly barbecued kebabs by the street. Yummmy..with lots of chilli powder..perfect treat to beat the cold. A group of Muslims selling dried fruits & nuts were taking a break.
Food vendors are plentiful. This is at the Old town. Lots of goodies..
