May I know if a free copy of the Shanghai map is available at the Pudong Airport?

No, unfortunately. If you want a map then you need to buy one.

Re: Shanghai Map

There's a really good, and detailed, tourist map that most of the international hotels will provide for free, if you can wait until you get downtown.

The below link is for Shanghai's Metro. It is not a street map that you want. But it may help until you get a street map.

When I found the above link, I also found a link to the 2012 planed Shanghai Metro system. It is not useful today but interesting. The links are also in my travel tips for my Shanghai page.

Re: Shanghai Map

Almost always, the maps you find will be Chinese characters only. Like another VT says, big hotels that cater to foreigners may have English maps. City of Books sells an English map for 8 yuan. One location for C of B is across from Cloud Nine shopping building at Zhong Shan Park area. Another is near the Nanjing Road East stop of the Metro. Walk south 3 blocks, right 2 blocks to corner of Fuzhou and Fuzhian Roads.

Travel Tips for Shanghai

Mc... what?

by Amareyui

In this society where almost everything has to be upscale, the everyday, everywhere McDonalds has transformed into a high-end coffee shop in Xin Tin Di... the McCafe.
In every sense of the word, it is a total misfit. Luckily, McCafe was empty. A good sign that we still have our common sense intact.

The most famous

by Luchonda about Hard Rock Café

This picture only for the people travelling around the world and looking for souvenirs like t-shirts - postcards and other memories of the most famous café in the world - represented in all big cities in this small world !
I hope the first chinese astronaut recognised this spotlight in Shanghai during his first trip.
I think it is located at the big boulevard of Shanghai !

The most famous teahouse in Shanghai

by cheezecake_deli about Mid-Lake Pavilion Teahouse

Smack in the middle of a pond in bustling Yu Bazaar, the Mid-Lake Pavilion Teahouse (Huxinting) is Shanghai's most famous teahouse, visited by everyone from Bill Clinton to Hu Jintao when in town. The first few times I came here, it was too crowded to get in, but on a rainy Monday afternoon, it was surprisingly empty and peaceful. We sat upstairs by a window overlooking Yu Gardens, and service was prompt. The tea selection is not exhaustive but quality was good. Prices are a bit high (from RMB50 upwards) but you get titbits included with your tea. Various teas.

I'm not a big fan of Space Needles and Towers and alike, but I was totally bored one weekend, so the lure of the TV tower finally got to me. As towers go, it is quite impressive, and it does offer some brilliant views of the city. Not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo.

..."If Beijing is the brain of China, then Shanghai must surely be its heart. Never have a city in China pumped with so much vigour and strength. Watch the arteries of people flowing relentless, a gush that never seems to end at any given time and any given occasion. Life just passes you by if you stand still"...

More photos of Shanghai and Suzhou are available on my private website: IMPREXXUESSNISM
