Hi All!
My friends and I are thinking of traveling to SHangahi end of October and would like your help in deciding on which hotel to get, I've seen someone recommend AMbassador and the rate seem pretty reasonable but is it better in terms of location and quality than Jin Jiang East hotel? We're on a budget between US$40-50 so any advise would surely help. LAst time I visited SHanghai we stayed at holiday inn vista but rates are higher now and doesnt meet our budget.

What exactly is Jinjiang East? Do you mean Jinjiang East Asia Hotel on Nanjing Lu pedestrian street?
Definitely Ambassador.
Just checked it again and yes it is Jin Jiang East Asia hotel. So Ambassador is a pretty good property for the price? Are there 2 Ambassador hotels? The one I'm looking at is located at Huangpu.
I've heard of another Ambassador Hotel elsewhere, yes.
My recommendation is for Ambassador Hotel at 45 Jiujiang Lu, Huangpu district. Definitely good value for money. I frequently book friends and other travellers in there.
Ambassador at Jiujiang Lu is unbeatable in terms of price and location. However, if you are staying for longer than 2 nights, I suggest you check with hotel about windows. I've stayed here a night for a very good price but some rooms have no windows (and I've no idea if any room has any windows). That's my only concern. It has one of the best location though, cross the street and right across is the Bund! Room was pretty new 2 years ago. Not sure if it is still as good now.
The cheapest rooms have no windows, that's true. The most expensive rooms have a balcony and windows with a Bund view!
