The market doesn't exist anymore at the Xiangyang Lu address. That place is now a construction site for a station on metro line 10.
Most of the vendors have moved to the Science and Technology Museum metro stop (line 2) in Pudong. There're also some at Qipu Lu and off Nanjing Xilu.
Travel Tips for Shanghai
The people from Shanghai (as...
by Mike_Grote
The people from Shanghai (as well as the rest of China) are very friendly. They will go to great lengths to ensure that you are comfortable. You will not find many people from this part of the world that like to brag about themselves. They believe that actions and results are much stronger than words.
Taxi from Pudong airport to downtown
by ZenLady34
Taxi from Pudong Airport to Downtown (Shanxi Rd.) was 170 yuan (around 17 euros in Apr 2004) for two persons in it.
NOTE: take a taxi from the taxi queue right outside the terminal.
Do NOT go with anyone, not even if they explain that "taxis to downtown leaves from there..." Then they will take you to a black market taxi (the one I took once was parked into a parking hall... stupid me!!)
I payed 400 yuans when travelling with a black market taxi the same journey. The black market taxi had taximeter, stickers, taxi sign on the roof but not (now, when I think back) the picture of the driver in front where it should be.

Shanghai's bazaar
by socrates_07
With my VT friend Gilly I went to Yuyuan Gardens and during the main holidays there must be millions of people there. But most of these people were in Shanghai's bazaar. If you find the entrance to Yuyuan Garden you will be surprised. At least I couldnt believe that inside the garden it was relatively peaceful and quiet.
a living-making place
by gmanxue
It is only a work place for me. Its weather is warm and wet, its economy is developped and the city is clean. However I don't like it as much as I should. Maybe because its people is too shrewd. If you are free Huangpu River is a best place for you to have a rest. You can get some sense from the pic.
