Clothes, shoes, watches, bags, etc.
by holidayshirt about The new market.
Now that the Xiangyang market is now this is one of the new locations where you can get just about anything. The shop owners are very insistent and will practically drag you into their shops. Remember to bargain hard, start at about 15-20% of the offerred price. Bargaining can be fun if you remain good-humoured and smile, smile, smile. You only get ripped off if you buy something you don't want . Men's and women's clothes, shoes, bags, watches, just about anything. I paid 50 yuan for business shirts, 200 for an Armani coat, 100 for Diesel shoes, you get the idea.
Dumplings!
by lucincia about DND
A chain fastfood-style dumplings place, located near tourist places. Get lot's of dumplings of different flavors for cheap and stuff yourself silly! Menu is in Chinese but sometimes you can encounter staff who can speak a little English.
When DW and I were there last time, an Australian lady was standing behind us. Seeing that DW is a Caucasian, she assumed that I know how to speak English. But, her accent was too heavy for me to follow! So, it ended up with the lady speaking Australian-accented English to DW, who "translated" it to me in English, then I translate it in Chinese to the wait staff. It was humorous :)
Order from the board showing the dumpling available at the time. They cost about 3-6RMB for 6 dumplings, depending on the filling. You can ask them to put everything on the same plate or separate them out. We like to put everything on the same plate so we can try to guess what we are eating! We typically ordered 24 dumplings between two adults and DD7. You can also order the house special rice or noodles. They run 10RMB per plate of generous serving. EVERYTHING!

Pay a visit to the worlds third highest TV tower. From the Space Module at 350 metres you can see a lot of Shanghai. It'll set you back 100 RMBs but it's worth it. You'll see the Bund and lot's of tall buildings in every direction. Superfast elevators take you to the top in no time. You can see across to the Jin Mao tower, and if you bring your binoculars you can spy on the people sipping drinks in cloud 9, the worlds highest bar.
