    Affordable luxurious hotel

    by

It's a 4-star hotel located at the Hong Kou district not far from the Tongji University. The room which we stayed in was on the 18th floor. It was very spacious, had a great view, a comfortable king-size bed with down pillows, a big bathtub with separate shower facility, safe deposit, tv with cable and also little pampering items such as bedroom slippers, japanese robes, welcome chocolates, toiletries etc. Iron/ironing board are available upon request. Most of the hotel staff, including restaurant waiters and bellboys, can speak and understand some English. There's a Chinese restaurant, cafe serving both eastern and western food, a Shanghainese food mall (food is cheaper as compared to the other restaurants in the hotel) and lounge for some light refreshments. There's also a business centre where you can have access to internet (chargeable), printing, faxing, photocopying facilities as well as internet connection in the hotel rooms. The room rate includes international buffet breakfast with quite a good spread of western and chinese food. Hotel staff are pleasant and helpful but not particularly friendly. The hotel loses out on location as it's not as conveniently located as those in the city area..neither is there a metro station nearby (the nearest is 15min walk away and with highway construction going on right now, walking is not really desirable). Fortunately, taxis are readily available and a trip to town during normal traffic condition will cost approx. 30-50RMB and 150-180RMB to the Pudong Airport. There's a free airport shuttle service to the Hongqiao Airport. The hotel is quite popular with japanese and indonesian tourists and they arrive in busloads - morning breakfast at the cafe can be very crowded so avoid very early breakfast.
