great location
Well, we had booked this hotel through the internet...we requested an extra bed, and were happy to see it there when we arrived...the staff was really helpful especially this one valet..sorry can't remember his name..but he was really tall...Great guy!! so friendly, great english, went out of his way to give us tips on where to eat and directions.
the rooms were air-conditionned and the decor was very colonial England..nice touch.
free 4 o'clock tea and sweets, but I was disapointed as the tea room wasn't airconditionned and it was a bit hot.
the location was great, on a quiet street right off Nanjin Road (the main shopping street)
anyways, would definetely stay there again...very cheap also...we had a big room with three beds, came down to 30$ a night each!!

Good price, Great location, Luxury room.
The hotel locates right on the back street neighbourhood the Peace Hotel(100 meters distance).
Me and my friend stayed in a luxury room with a price about 600RMB(75$) per night. The room looks lovely. It's a quite deserve price with such a great location and lovely room.
Unique Quality: No pool, no great views from the hotel. But the facilities and rooms are lovely and comfortable. The biggest attract is it's location - just 1 minutes walk to the bund.

Hotel recommendations
I will be in Shanghai for a week in January and would like to hear from anyone with recommendations for a hotel. Needs to be no more than US$150 a night for two.

You have a lot of choices for US$150 a night, check out sinohotel.com, you probably can get a five star hotel with that price.

I would like to recommend Manhattan bund business hotel, they provide a great location, and price is reasonable, around 70usd per night with a standard room, they also have a website, where you can ask price and made reservation.

A couple years ago I stayed at the Tai Ping, Grande Pacific hotel. It was really nice, reasonably priced and near everything I like (restaurants, subway shopping, etc.) in the Jing An district. It is also easy to get a taxi to the Bund from there or any other tourist site in Shanghai. Well, it shutdown and we lost a great hotel.
It is now back under the name of "Shanghai Central View Suites hotel"! It is the same great hotel under new ownership. It is listed as a premium hotel at Asiarooms and it is $104 per night. Thanks for all the responses. It is for pleasure so I don't really care if it has any of those extras for business people. I would rather not spend that much money but I decided to give it a ceiling to allow for as many suggestions as possible.

In that case, my recommendations would be Mansions Hotel, Radisson New World Hotel, URBN Hotel, Donghu Hotel, Ramada Plaza, Sofitel Hyland, Central Hotel etc.

We stayed at the Metropole..little tired but great location..we walked to everything...Nanjing Street,Bund,subway very close.
