Great Wall of City Garden
This is what I called as the Great Wall of City Garden.
You wont miss this beautifully landscaped City Garden. You will bypass this City Garden when you walk from the Bund to YuYuan/Cheng Huang Miao.

how do i go to Haining vis the d train, which station to alight ?
Is the departmental store near to the train station ?
If you want the nicer, D trains, then you should go to Shanghai Hongqiao train station. These trains will stop at Haining West train station, and can be up to almost 50 mins faster.
All other trains to Haining will leave from Shanghai South train station and arrive at Haining main train station.
If you've any other questions, you can also email me at ellyse99@yahoo.com and put "VirtualTourist" and your own username (eg jolly88) in the subject line.

By Bus ---------------------------------------------
With few exceptions, Shanghai buses are very old and uncomfortable, primarily standing-room-only, and extremely inconvenient. Often you'll have to change buses several times to get where you're going. During busy traffic hours, buses are unbelievably crowded. On most buses, the fare is Y0.50 for any stop on the line.
One exception to the above is the double-decker bus running down Huaihai Lu through the old French Concession. It's a pleasant ride, as there are many seats on these vehicles imported from Hong Kong. If you sit on the top deck, you have a great view over the many compound walls at the beautiful old Shanghai buildings that line the thoroughfare. Fares on this bus line will run you a few yuan.
Nanjing Road is the main shopping street of Shanghai, China, and is one of the world's busiest shopping streets. The road stretches from The Bund east towards Hongqiao, with Shanghai's centerpoint People's Square in the middle.
Nanjing Lu is a tourist must go place, the most famous and traditional shopping center in Shanghai. Brand-new first rate department stores are prospering these years, making the street a shopping paradise for all.
Nanjing road offers countless famous brands, superior quality, and new fashions. KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, and other world-famous food vendors line both sides of the street. Upscale stores include Tiffany, Mont Blanc, and Dunhill. In addition, approximately a hundred traditional stores and specialty shops still provide choice silk goods, jade, embroidery, wool, and clocks.
Open-air bars, abstract sculptures, and lingering sounds from street musicians enhance evening strolls. A trackless sightseeing train provides a comfortable tour of the night-transformed pedestrian street. Flashing neon signs illuminate the magnificent buildings and spangle the night skyline of this lively city.
I personally love the neon and the energy.
Pictured here is Wusong Jiang, also called Suzhou Creek... And in comparison to much larger Huangpu Jiang which it flows into, it is really more of a creek... This shot was taken from the bridge on Tianmu Xilu in north central Shanghai, not too far from the main train station...
