Have anyone stayed at any Motel 168? How do you find it in terms of its location and cleaniness? I could not find the room rate neither. Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
Here is their website:

I've stayed at Motel 168 (near Jing An district) on two occasions. The rooms are all clean, and depending on the price you pay, you can end up with very spacious rooms, some apt. style with two levels and two beds, for example; really more space than you need. The service isn't much to speak of but for the price you pay it's really a deal.
Is Motel 168 that good? I mean at least if it's clean enough it's good enoigh for me.... So long not in red light district....
hi guys
i tried the ruijin guest house but they are completely booked..any other recommendation - 50-60 usd a night kinda place..
which is the area to stay in ideally? i hear that puxi is better..please advise.
also would love to meet up with vt people in shanghai...am there from the 14th to the 21st...
good day to all
Puxi covers a large area and a number of districts. Personally I would pick to be within comfortable walking distance of a centrally-located metro stop. Some suggestions are Paramount Hotel, Shangfu Hotel, Seventh Heaven Hotel etc.
Sure I'll be happy to meet up. Drop me a VTMail.
It is beginning to sound like a broken record, check out Motel 168 web site, they have clean, inexpensive rooms located all over Shanghai. You can book directly online. Location all depends on what you want to see and do. Pick a place close to the subway for ease to get around town. Puxi is the "inner core" but traffic is a zoo plus far away from Pudong airport.
thank u very much
will drp you a mail and hopefully we can meet up..
thanks again
hey there, american boy going to shanghai and looking for a room in the french concession area, Y500 or so???
Is there a motel 168 there? I can see it in my tour guide on West Yan'an Road...but not on their website.
anyway prob prefer a nicer place if you can recommend one, thanks!
You can try the rooms at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Foreign Experts Building. The mansion which now houses the rooms (there're only 3) on the 2nd floor and a restaurant on the 1st floor used to be the Jewish Club. Rooms are 300 RMB each (with ensuite, TV, 24-hour hot water etc) and you're advised to book well in advance as they're very popular!
