Long Hua Temple
Long Hua Temple Longhua Temple is a famous Buddhist monastery with the longest history in Shanghai area. The temple was built in the Sangharama five-hall style of the Buddhist 'chan' sect of the Song Dynasty. Vendors along the Bund sell candied fruit (bing tang hu lu), a traditional snack (and an acquired taste for most I think). Each stick costs RMB5. They also generally sell steamed corn and coconut juice. Candied fruit.
Visit the Shanghai Museum
At just Y20 a pop, the Shanghai Museum has to rank as one of Shanghai’s more worthwhile attractions. The various galleries, which include pottery, calligraphy, stamp, and artwork galleries, among others, are arranged by dynasty and include informative displays. On rainy or especially hot days this is good place to kill a few hours and gain some insight into Chinese culture.
Xin Nian Hao!
"Happy New Year Everyone!"
I spent 5 weeks in the USA and Thailand for the holidays. I'm back in Shanghai now. Phuket and Bangkok were fantastic! I hope to return to Thailand soon and visit some of the country's other interesting places. While I was in the states I picked up a copy of Lonely Planet SE Asia on a Shoestring.
My Chinese classes start again in a couple of weeks and I'm really looking forward to them. How quickly I've forgotten so much. I think I ought to brush up a bit before classes start or I'll be lost!
