Want a crap hotel in Shanghai? Then stay here!

Don't let the doorman fool you, the only good thing about this hotel is that it is approx. 10 minute walk from both the Bund and Nanjing Road.

The hotel looks nice from the outside, has a corner location and is opposite a 7-11.

The rooms are out dated and of a good size but the room seemed incredibly small when the rat that was sitting onto of the dresser was disturbed when Anne and I returned to the room! The hotel staff did not seem to care about the rat and simply laughed it off. Another call to reception saw a housekeeper come to the room to investigate. As soon as she saw the rat run from under the bed she jumped onto the bed, screamed, jumped off the bed and ran out the door.

We were then given another room!

The Shanghai International cruise terminal is located on the Bund (North)

The Maglev train is advertised as “The fastest you will travel without flying!” This high speed train reaches a controlled speed of 430 km’s per hour, (267 mph,) and runs between the Shanghai International Airport and the Longyang Road Metro station. To travel the 30 km’s, (19.6 miles,) between the two stations took 7 minutes and 21 seconds!

At a cost of approx. 50 Yuan, (US$6.00,) it is a chap option.

A cab will then take you to the terminal for approx. US$2.50

Enjoy!

"Best value" would depend on a few factors eg how many of you there are, how much luggage you have, what time of day etc.
It's about 50-60 km from Pudong airport to the International Cruise Terminal by road, depending on which route you take.
Taking the "city centre" as People's Square, that would be about 7-8 km from the International Cruise Terminal by road. Sorry, it's not practical for us to list the distance from the cruise terminal to the attractions in Shanghai. There're too many and they're in all different locations!
I wouldn't stay anywhere that's "in between" on the map from the cruise terminal and Pudong airport, as it wouldn't be where a sightseer would be staying.
Also, there's a huge difference in price between 3 and 5-star hotels here. Do be more specific about your requirements and price range!
There's more than just one area for nightlife -- though most of it is located at different spots in the French Concession area. Places like Tongren Lu, Xintiandi, Hengshan Lu, Maoming Lu, Fuxing Park etc.
No offence but it sounds like you should do some homework of your own first by reading up on guidebooks, either in print and online...!
