Shanghai Tip
by Gnome
When I visit Shanghai, I am always amazed by the modern architecture. If you are into modern building design and visiting nice hotels and stuff like that, Shanghai is really kewl! The new Grand Hyatt in Pudong is a spin out. 88 floors high, with an enormous 30 storey atrium that starts from the 50th floor. And the view is amazing. Although the Pearl TV Tower is a 1990's tackorama original, it kind of epitomises the spirit of Shanghai, and it is well worth a visit. It is hard to imagine what Shanghai will be like in 20 years time, so it is a good idea to go there now!
Clubs
by JoannaMoon about Park97, the cotton club
Park97 - nice interriors, good layout, great atmosphere, good mix of foraigners and locals, live stage, restaurents...
Cotton club - live jazz and blues.
Peace Hotel old Jazz band - least interesting, most expensive. Very classic Jazz musics. Not particular required but if you go for Park 97, better not to be too casual.
Cotton is relaxing, can wear whatever you like.
Nan Xiang Restaurant
by sunnywong
The 100-year old Nan Xiang Restaurant specializes in Shanghai style cuisine. Situated in a pleasant environment and equipped with advanced facilities, the restaurant serves first-class foods and is an ideal place to dine. The special recommendation is the Nan Xiang small steamed meat bun.
See the Real Shanghai

Behind the big buildings and the Bund and the shopping areas is where you can find the locals living their daily lives. The buildings appear to be quite old. I'm not sure how old though. It's a great place to explore.
FIRST TIME IN CHINA -2005

"ONLY STAYED IN TRANSIT HERE"
I only had the change to see the inside of this airport for a total of 13 hours, in my trip to and from Thailand. I did however have the extra time it took me to clear customs...haha.
I did spend most of my time walking around and stopping at times to have something to eat/drink. I wasn't able to use the internet so I also spent lots of time reading or listening to music.
It was probably the most difficult airport to figure out in all of the ones I have visited, but I managed to pass the time until my next flight. I flew with Eastern China Airlines and even though it was maybe not as good as my experiences with United, it was a cheaper, more direct route.
