You must get to Pudong, to the Oriental Pearl Tower,
Peace Hotel (which is such a legend once upon a time in the early century), walk on the Bund as well as the otherside in Pudong, take the tunnel across to Pudong, admire all the european styled buildings which were built with millions then already!!!, and also walk on Najing Road shopping, and go to Yuyuan Garden, eat Shanghainese food, take a cruise along Huang pu.
Rui jin Hotel and Garden Complex
by stmlnyc about Face bar
Rui jin Hotel and Garden Complex (where the Face bar is) is beautifully designed and probably one of the best bar/ounge I've been to. A stroll along the peaceful and romantic garden complex and you'll think its Victorian England. Don't think there is a dress code but the clientele were dressed in business casual or 'smart' casual. Definitely no tank tops, sandals, or beachwear.
Good Cantonese restaurant with great views
by cheezecake_deli about Charme Restaurant
Lujiazui, the new financial district of Shanghai in Pudong, is not particularly endowed with good places to eat outside of hotels. Fortunately then, there is Superbrand Mall with its plethora of restaurants and cafes. Charme restaurant (Gang Li Canting in Mandarin) has a branch located on the 7th floor, with panoramic views across the Huangpu river to the Bund. It serves innovative Cantonese food in pleasant surroundings and with good service at a reasonable price. What more can you ask?
Peace Hotel:Rub shoulders with the rich and famous
by maria_hz
Shanghai is famous for its Bund area, and the pearl of the Bund is doubtless the Peace Hotel, one of the most famous hotels in China. The art deco styled hotel has a high profile history; formerly known as Cathay Hotel, it is housed in buildings erected during the first decades of the 20th century, it has hosted the likes of Charlie Chaplin and is a fine example of Western architecture in Shanghai.
The North wing is more famous than the South wing, and here is where you will find the famous water holes. Why come here? Well, it is not for the famously expensive food, rather for the atmosphere of a place that has seen many a celebrity and that exemplifies the melting pot history of Shanghai. The Jazz bar on the ground floor features nice Jazz music (if you fancy that type of mucis) and the bar on the eigth floor is the place to be seen.
Even if you don't go for a drink or dinner, go inside to have a look at the original style interior decoration.
