Travel Tips for Shanghai

Packing List

by gmanxue

Actually, you needn't bring anything except money. The goods' prices in Shanghai are multi-hiberarchy, so that you can find what you want with any prices. Don't worry, just bring enough money. However it is not so convient as other big cities to exchange money, therefore exchange enought money when you have a chance to get to bank. Family Travel

Luck Li Grand Hyatt driver

by angelochka

we were 6 people staying in Grand Hyatt and clever decision was to rent a minibus with driver. staying in the city just for 3 days, being always on a hurry and having vast programm, that helped us to save our time, we didnt need different transportations to go sightseeing and we could be all together in same car:) without any hesitation i would recommend you our Limo?? Old Shanghai

by Annette98

A portion of Old Shanghai has been preserved, primarily to welcome tourists. This part of town offers traditional Chinese archicture, complete with a famous tea house.

The small lanes of this area are filled with many shops and restaurants. Because the target market here is tourists, you will have to look hard to find a great deal. Don't worry about getting too absorbed into Chinese culture here - the dumpling shops and tea house are right along side the Dairy Queen, Starbucks, and (of course) McDonalds.

The best part of the area is the Yu Garden, founded approximately 400 years ago by the Pan family. You can spend quite a bit of time wandering through the walled garden and enjoying the many rock formations and pavillions.

There was also a performance by a musical group which plays instruments made of porcelain. They played traditional Chinese and western music and were quite entertaining, although we did not understand the commentary. We stumbled across the show by accident - based on the sign, they play several times during the day.

Tara!

by Guantanamera

Tara is one of the most famous Bodhisattvas... Some draw an equivalent between Tara and China's Guan Yin... There are actually 21 different manifestations of Tara, among them the Tibetan green Tara and the Mongolian white Tara... Enlightened at the age of 16, she demonstrates that anyone can be transformed... Her sensual physique suggests a powerful tantric dimension...

Stone Gate in Shanghai

by conniechong

"Stone Gate"

Stone gates buildings are getting lesser and lesser each day in Shanghai. The Xin Tian Di (New Heaven and Earth) is way too modern to see how a stone gate looks like, they are all fake.

Original stone gate buildings can be found in this tourist spots called Tian Zi Fang(“cŽq–V) near XuJiaHui. Taxi fare costs only 18 RMB(2.6 usd) from Grand Mall shopping center.

Restaurant or cafe are all around, don't ever think of trying Thai food there, its too locally tasted.
