Pudong airport to Celebrity Service Apartments
by cybertraveler14
Hi. We made a reservation at the Celebrity Service Apartments (1077 XieTu Rd) and would like information on getting from Pudong airport to there. I see that airport bus Line No. 3 stops at Da Pu Qiao, does anyone know if that stop is near enough to walk to the hotel from there? Thanks for your help.

This link talks about using the Maglev train to get to the Pudong side of Shanghai. From the terminal you can get a taxi to most of Sahngahi center out as far as Jing An district for 50 RMB. Total cost about 90 RMB, about $13 at today's exchange rates. It only runs until about 5:30 PM.
If you take a taxi from the airport it is about 150 RMB or more, and it takes more time. The bus is really much cheaper, but after a day on an airplane, I want to get to my hotel fast, and a bus is not fast.

That stop is on Xujiahui Lu, near Dapu Lu. I think it should be manageable to walk to your hotel from there. Hope you don't have too much luggage.

Thanks, Ellyse, this is for bus line 3, correct? Can you provide any other information on the bus--are the stops marked, or is there a good way for us to find where to get off? Is there a ticket counter for us to buy tickets at the airport before getting on the bus?
Thanks again, I really appreciate your help!

The fare for each stop is different, so the bus conductor would know when you're supposed to get off. Tickets are bought on the bus. The stops are named on a sign where the bus is parked at Pudong airport.
I do have some photos which might be of help. Email me at ellyse99@yahoo.com and put "VirtualTourist" and your own username (eg cybertraveler14) in the subject line, if you think you need them.
Travel Tips for Shanghai
Shanghai skyline
by aramat
Central Shanghai is divided by the Huangpu River. Most tourist sights are in the western area, but one of Shanghai's best known attraction, the Oriental Pearl Tower is in the eastern part (the Pudong side). From the Bund - a section of the riverfront and one of the remaining vestiges of Shanghai's colonial past - there is a nice view on the Tower and the surrounding modern district.
Good shopping
by kphstar about HuaiHai Road
HuaiHai Road is a much better alternatives to NanJing Road for shopper. This strip of shops and malls offer a greater range and greater value for tourist. Many of the shops visited already had sales, so bargaining was somewhat unnecessary. Also, unlike Nanjing, there is more inviting restuarants, pub and clubs.
Italian fiesta
by lindyz about Daisy's Pizza Cafe
On our first visit across the river to the Xinyang Markets we came across this quaint pizza cafe and stopped by for lunch - and it was simply scrumptious! We order a serve of garlic bread and a 10" deluxe feast pizza. Tracy of course had her Tsingtao and I had free water. The total bill came to only 93rmb! This cafe is underground, on the same level as the Xinyang Markets (which were by the way the best value markets we came across in Shanghai!)
Yuyuan Bazaar (chinese: ~{T%T0IL3G~})
by sunnywong
Yuyuan Bazaar found beside Yuyuan Garden is a bazaar of stores that sells traditional Chinese arts and crafts and souvenirs. The stores sell a mish-mash of items including chopsticks, Chinese medicine, walking sticks, fans, silk umbrellas, bamboo and rattan furniture, goldfish, pottery, plus much more. Part of the bazaar has also been transformed into an indoor mall.
Quick Weekend in Shanghai

"Rugby in Shanghai"
Visiting Shanghai as part of a rugby weekend left very little time for sightseeing but I still managed a little and some shopping on the side. After the game we found a good bit of bars downtown but the names are a bit fuzzy as Chinese is way out of my league. The market area was really bustling and the Bund was worth a quick stroll and meal, more for those with the time.
