Travelling time between Lin Ping and Tibet road

by gxteo

Hi guys, I have a few questions hope you can help me out! Thanks !

I'm going to Shanghai for an internship soon and my work place will be at Tibet road, Jin Qiao plaza. I'm offered an accommodation at Lin Ping road (near the metro station) currently, but I still have not yet decided. And I would like to ask 2 things:

1.) Is Jin Qiao plaza near the People's Square metro station?

2.) What will be the fastest way to travel from Lin Ping road to Jin Qiao plaza, Tibet road in the morning? Considering the traffic and stuff. How long does it take to travel by both metro and bus? Or would taxi be more worth it?

Thanks alot !

I don't have Jin Qiao plaza on my map. I think it is a newly constructed space. Can you mention a major cross street? Tibet Road is very long.

You gave us two different spellings but I'm sure the correct one is Ling Ping Road Metro stop. The line 4 train will pass over Tibet North Road. There is a stop before Tibet Road at Baoshan Road. There is a stop after Tibet Road at Shanghai Railway Station.

From Shanghai Railway Station stop, you can change trains to line 1 underground, go south to People's Square stop. When you walk up the stairs, you will be near Tibet Middle Road. There's no Metro near Tibet South Road so you'll either take taxi or bus if that's your destination.

Ultimately, motor-bike taxi is the fastest way to go anywhere in Shanghai. Oh, but if you are concerned with arriving in one piece, 4-wheel taxi is almost as fast. Between choosing Metro or bus, it all depends on traffic which affects bus but not Metro. Typically, in rush hour, expect a 10km trip by bus to take one hour – maybe 40 minutes by Metro and a bit if walking after exit – 30 minutes by taxi. Cost of bus 1-2 RMB, depending on if it has heat/AC. Taxi 15-20 RMB.

Hi Lance, thanks for your help!

Oh sorry, I forgot to indicate which part of Tibet road it is. I was given this address " No. 585 Xizang road central" so i think People's Square metro should be the nearest?

Wow taxi is so much more costly, gotta get a bus then. Thanks alot!

1) Yes, that's the nearest metro stop.
2) Perhaps metro, but I think you'd need to change from line 4 to line 1 at Shanghai train station, which would involve at least 10 mins of walking. Alternatively, try and see if bus 14 would be suitable for your route.

The bund museum is under the obelisk - lots of pictures of old colonial museum and early days of the Bund. It is here I found that the rich tycoons who build all those glorious buildings were big time drug lords!!!

Bars and Nightclubs Guide Libra
Two floors of local teahouse, wooden floors, wooden furniture, the usual style---only Libra stands out somehow. It might be the friendy staff, the semi shambolic feel to the place or the fact that it makes the perfect place for the last stop on a pub crawl of Heng Shan Lu.

Malone's
Their long-time manager left last month and a new one has come in. Should still pull in the regular crowd of people in search of some drinks or new friends. Live bands play regularly. Sports on the TV always.

Mandy's
Right next door to Sasha's. They've done a great job with this place. Great bar inside, great patio outside. Should do well, especially when the kitchen upstairs opens. Until the kitchen dose open, they're doing a great BBQ from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays with a live band, Viola, playing. Friday is Ladies Night with one free drink to the lucky ladies.

Belly Dancers Included

by MaosRedArmy about Turkish Taste

Turkish Taste is located downstairs in a small "mall" on Huahai Rd. (a must see activity for Shoppers).

Diners can choose from a la carte menu or from the all you can eat buffet, which is a great deal. A wide variety of food on the buffet will provide you with more options than you will need.

I prefer the ala carte menu - and the Donner Kebab more precisely. I also love Turkish Taste's appetizers - especially if there are 4 or more people in the partty (more to share !). I have tried almost all of them and I have not had a bad one yet.

The hummus is great, as is the bread you are served before the meal.

Also, if you want to see Chinese Belly Dancers dancing to traditional belly dancer music, make sure you show up at 7:30pm - when the first show begins. Just be careful one of the dancers doesn't make you part of her act ! Donner Kebab.

Feeling about a real Shanghai away from modern...

"Forget the skyscrapters of Shanghai"

"old style appartments"

"Garden of Yuyuan"

It's one of the most beautiful gardens that I ever seen. It represented the lifestyle of Chinese nobles of hundred years ago.The stones, pool, plants, artcrafts and architectures are very well designed and set up in a great sense. I felt I was touching the ancient lifestyle which existed at every corner and smelling it.
It's adoreable and attractive.
