Time to Get from PuDong to Main Train Station?

by BIW

Hi,

What is quickest way to get from PuDong to Main Train Station and how long does it take (am taking the overnight to Mt. Huangshan)?

Thanks in advance.

Take Meglev, transit Metro #2 at Longyang Station, transit Metro #1 at People Square Station. Abt. 1 hour.

Thanks Neverstoptravel. The Meglev stops running at 21:00 I believe? Do you know how fast (or slow) it is to get thru customs at Pudong?

My flight arrives from Tokyo at 20:20 and the train to Huangshan leaves at 22:05. I am not counting on making the train but wonder if I might try if I get thru customs quick enough (and the plane isn't late in arriving).

Thanks again.

Last year it took me over an hour. I arrive in Shanghat around 17:00 on the Monday after May holiday..

I am afraid you will not catch your train unless the flight arrives earlier.

Hi, for your information.

If you can run all the time, you may bet on it.

If you can get out of the airport before 20:50 and take the 21:00 Meglev which takes 7 minutes to arrive in Longyang Station. You run into the underground station in 10 minutes.(should be enough) and take it. It takes at most 25 minutes to people's square (include the time you run from the 2nd line to 1st line) and take at most 10 minutes to arrive in Shanghai railway station.

Let's calculate them-- you may arrive in the station around 21:52

and 13 minutes left, I am not sure whether you can catch the train.

I have to say it's too tight, you cannot make any mistakes on your way. But for a foreigner, it is not easy.

So suggest you stay one night in Shanghai and set off earlier the other day morning. You may either take a train or a bus.

Anything you would like to know, just ask... I was born in Shanghai and live in Shanghai till now...

Oh, sorry , forget to tell you that you may take a taxi if you don't mind.

It may take an hour from PUDONG to Shanghai railway station. it the road is ok.

It is late, I think it should be ok.

Why upstairs suggested an impossible way to a visitor who is a stranger to the city?

The check-in gate will be close at 22:00 and do you think 8 minutes enough for a person running out of the underground, going up to the second floor of the station, then looking for the check-in gate??

Thanks again to both of you for the valuable information. I've decided to rearrange my schedule and go to Hangzhou first after I arrive in Shanghai and then Huangshan-it just makes much more sense than running my arse off the moment I get into China.

Cheers

A wise man, you, changing plans. Motorcycle taxi is actually the fastest but no space for luggage. Taxi is the only chance. Person who suggested Maglev is daft. You would never make it. Changing Metro lines is a ten minute underground walk. Ticket purchase can be 5-10 minutes depending on if the vending machines are operable at that moment. You didn't mention if you have the railway ticket in hand. Lines for rail tickets can be 10-45 minutes.

Construction on the Shanghai Museum was finished in the year 1996 at a total cost of approximately RMB 570 million, after a design by architect Xing Tonghe... The exterior of the museum features pink granite imported from Spain... Pictured here, the inlaid marble central atrium, as seen from one of the upper levels...

Big City

by jessys

Our last stop of our round trip was Shanghai, big city, a lot of people, always a lot of noise, but it has some nice things, Nanjing road, pearl tower, shanghai museum and a nice aquarium.

I realy like the Hotpot restaurants, you get a big bowl of 'soup'in which you have to put your meat and when it is ready you take it our and eat it, realy delisious!
