What a difference a little month makes
by sevilsungur about Summit Service Apartment
As the name implies this is a unique accommodation option. This place is basically a serviced apartment building, you have all the services and amenities you would expect in a hotel, plus a full kitchen. For the first time I stayed at the suite called Suite A which basically consits of a room with two double beds, a spacious living room with den and an open kitchen. The suite was nicely decorated, wood flooring in the living room, carpet in the bedroom. Having a seperate living area in your "hotel room" dissolves the thick air of a hotel environment. Thumbs up.
The second time I stayed at the Superior Room, two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. Things seemed a little bit upside down this time though. The kitchen had a thick layer of grease everywhere, even the ceiling panels. The carpet was stained in the bedrooms, and there was a thick layer of dust on all the furniture. Not good.....I don't know what happened within a month, but for the next time I am looking for somewhere else. Thumbs down. The 34th floor bar has a great 360 degrees view of Shanghai. I finally had my annual workout session last night in the gym. Nice view, real nice, 33rd floor and time really flies by watching the city. It was big enough 4 treadmills, 2 elliptical, two bikes and all the other stuff (shopping is my real cardio). Beware internet access is subject to surcharge which adds up to a great sum by the end of an extended stay.

I've stayed there before, the room is really small (single room)..with a small little window..
It's quite nice and cosy, but for the price I think there are better places.
Try Motel 168 chain hotels(I have not personally stayed there, but have heard that it's quite good for it's price)...they have a few branches in Shanghai and you can use elong.net to find out the price.
Enjoy shopping

I stayed in Motel 168 once and will be my last, bed is rock hard and room small.

Only shopping? I guess you should stay somewhere located along/around Nanjing Lu, in the French Concession or around Xujiahui would be my pick. No comments on Summit. What's your budget like?

I have booked this hotel for our shopping spree. Anyone out there who has stayed there before care to give your comments about this hotel with regards to cleanliness, distance to nearest subway, shopping areas, etc?
Cheap hostel in Shanghai
by Catthay
My next 1-month trip to China (Sept-Oct) will end in Shanghai.
After weeks spent in dormitories I know I'll badly need a nice and CHEAP private room where to spend the last 3 nights (Oct 21-24), preferably a hostel not too far from downtown, price range 200-250RMB... am I asking too much??? Many thanks for your replies!
