Christian bookshop in Shanghai

by 2itchyfeet

Is there one? I'll be there for a week and want to buy some Chinese Christian books and a Chinese kids bible to bring back home as a gift. Thanks!

The last time I was looking for a Bible, I found it close to impossible to get one. For some reason circulation of that is limited in China.

Travel Tips for Shanghai

Route of the Silk

by pginer

The route of the silk in the Middle Ages finished here: Suzhu is the city of the silk. You could buy all kind of beautiful cloths and things made by real silk.
Suzhu is located to the north of Shanghai: we arrived there in half an hour by car.

XINTIANDI

by ancient_traveler

Located in the center of Shanghai City south of Huaihai Zhong Lu, Shanghai Xin Tian Di has become an urban tourist attraction that holds the historical and cultural legacies of the city. Shanghai Xin Tian Di is unique because of its concept of construction. It retains the antique walls, tiles and exterior of the Shikumen housing of old Shanghai. On the other hand, its interior embodies a totally different world of international gallery, bars and cafes, boutiques or theme restaurants. When you walk into Xin Tian Di, you will get the taste both of Shanghai in the 1920's and the sonic modern lifestyle of urbanites of the 21st century.

Xin Tian Di is divided into two parts: the South Block and the North Block. The South Block mainly consists of modern architecture with Shikumen architecture as an accompaniment. Its North Block kept the old Shikumen architecture style, forming a contrast to the modern South Block.

Nothing to brag about

You can be confused what era you're in when you enter the hertiage Peace Hotel. From the walls, floors and even the smell of the hotels has a sense of nostalgia. Walking through the hallways and into the restuarnat reinforces this fact.

Although this hotel comes high recommend for it's reputation as one of Shanghai's oldest. I can not say much for it's Dragon-Phoenix restuarant. It happened to be our first night in Shanghai and thinking that it was an indeal place to enjoy the food and night view of the Bund and Pudong, we were gravely disappointed by the time the bills were signed. The view was great but the food was average at best. But seeing the overprice bill made it even worst. Don't order the whole fish!!!

Pudong Skyline

by karen75

Was so excited to see the Pudong skyline! It's a nice skyline and I'm sure it will get better in the years to come. I think it's pretty futuristic looking with the Pearl Oriental Tower.

It's good to have a tripod when you're here! I made do without. It also helps to have an 8GB card and really steady hands.

Chinese New Year In Shanghai

"Shanghai - The Urban City"

There is reason why Shanghai becomes one of the top cities in traveller list. Shanghai is a modern city which I almost thought it was somewhere in developed country. The interesting part of visiting Shanghai was the contrast of architectural design of buildings, which includes old traditional residence & buildings in french & bristish style.

"Shanghai At Night"

Recommand to take a night cruise in Shanghai, i am so much impressed by the beautiful & magnificient view of Shanghai city at night.
